Couple points, Jirehl Brock I thought ran it once 4th and one and got stuffed. Baylors defense looked really good, great closing speed and looked to have more horses on defense than ISU does. I haven't seen a QB get that beat up in a long time, Purdy was getting killed, seemed like every other play. He's a tough SOB. I swear a couple times I thought they would need a shovel to get Purdy out of the ground.
Announcers had it wrong. It was Croney

We have to face the fact that we still have some glaring weaknesses. 1. Third down defense is horrendous. 2. Offensive line is serviceable at best. 3. Complete lack of any type of consistency team wide. Now I know why I’m a Cubs and Vikings fan too.

I'm a Bears fan and I fully expect this to be close at the end.

Campbell's comments about the tent/sun situation tell me that he does care! He's just not going to whine about it to the media after the game or use it as the explanation for losing the game.

If it is worst case with Bailey, the good news is that he's only played in 4 games this year, so could redshirt.

Need to roll with Lang and a healthy Kene as the feature backs going forward.

Interesting write up. One thing I keep hearing from CMC is the great effort and character this team has. Beginning to wonder if this team is mentally weak as that has been a lot of sunshine being pumped the first 4 games (2-2). Which would be very surprising given how many returning starters they have and the supposed senior leadership of the squad.

i dont think so
we cant sneak up on competition anymore
and the play we have seen is very similar to what we saw last november
we needed a pick 6 in the 4th qtr to beat ksu, i cant even remember the drake game but that was close, we lose a close one to wsu who was a gift of a team to get in a bowl game due to matchups, and still couldnt win.

the toss it up to lazard and butler/hand off to montgomery was just a brilliant offense, and the new defense was still hard to figure out. iowa and baylor studied our defense and executed really well against it, especially iowa. and now we are realizing our dbs are not great at all.

All this talk about winning on the margins, assuming ISU is probably going to be that team that gets out gained by 150 yards but will be plus in the TO and penalty margins and sneak out some wins. Could be wrong but I think Baylor was the first team to out gain ISU going back several games. ISU was +188 vs WSU, 201 vs UNI, 105 vs Iowa and like 1000 vs ULM.
On the bright side if ISU can stop losing the TO battle so badly this could be one hell of a dangerous team.
Got to have this TCU win.

I expected this to be a close game and come down to the 4th but didn't expected it to be so lopsided until the 4th. I think the odds of getting double digit wins isn't good but still see them as an 8 win team.

Not hitting the panic button yet.

Baylor is a well coached team and will be right there at the end of the year.

I like how our schedule lays out for the next 3 games. 1 winnable home game and 2 winnable road games before Okie St comes to town.

RB is a concern. Need to find someone consistent, for sure. Kene would be the option but he's made of styrofoam. I'd like to see if a freshman can get going.

We aren't going to have a running game until we commit to having one and that is 100% on Manning!!!

Manning right now seems to impatient with the running game, like 3-4 yard runs aren't good enough. 3 - 4 yards runs should be good enough, those are like gut punches, eventually they take a toll and then you bust a big run.

Lang was running good 6 carries for like 36 yards, I'll take that average everyday, give him more carries. Which leads me to - quit rotating RB's (and WR's) so much put your best guys on the field. A RB can't get in a rhythm if he is constantly running in and out of the game. Our RB back rotation reminds me of Iowa Basketballs rotation, which is ridiculous.

I love Purdy but we don't need to be throwing 45 times a game.

Way up there
The running game is ok, we just need a playcaller and qb who will let them be productive. Brock is obviously great but got stuffed several times Saturday on plays where he should have given the ball off the the RB. Baylor was 100% focused on not letting him run the ball but he/the OC kept trying to force it and played right in to their hands. Not to mention, no rhyme or reason to the RB rotation which is prevents us from getting any kind of a rhythm. It would be frustrating to be a RB in this offense.

Baylor is a decent team but not more talented than we are, this game their staff outcoached ours, especially their defense vs our offense. The good news is, we'll see the exact same defense every week from here on out so the staff has opportunity to adjust, the bad news is, we've already seen this defense 3/4 weeks and the staff hasn't been able to figure things out yet (maybe they need to ask Heacock, since its his defensive philosophy being used against us) .

Can we scrap the 3rd/4th and short read option? That play is scouted and always well defended. Had it not been for a facemask penalty, ISU loses without Baylor needing the field goal because of that terrible, predictable, play call. That's two important (late game) moments, Iowa and Baylor (save for facemask), where that play call was brutal.

@ChrisMWilliams

If Soehner is our "FB/HB" why don't we see him getting the ball on the 3&1, 4&1 situations? Surely he has the power to get 1 yard compared to the current outcome of no gain or a loss from the RBs?

Soenher is not a FB. He is our best blocking TE and thus lines up sometimes in the backfield as a blocker or a slip out receiver. He will NOT be getting a handoff.
