I think this defense is missing whatever piece of the puzzle you need in order to play the "bend don't break" thing on 3rd and long. I get that the principle is to play soft on the quarterback and keep things in front of you, but they have failed at doing it over and over and over again.

Feels like ISU could be incontrol, lots of screwing around, badly timed penalties, giving up a drive to end the half etc.

Good test to see if ISU has improved enough to find a way.

Maybe that piece is having your best pass rusher rush the passer.
