Abdel Nader had his best college season under Prohm

That too.

Was that a lighning/bottle type thing?

I know Shayok had his best year too but was it developmental or just letting him run wild?

Player improvement is a lot about signing the right guys imo. Nader was an exception in that he greatly matured in his last 18 months. A young Nader wasn’t going to improve much anywhere. Senior Nader decided to work hard and play team ball.

Ya i'm not so sure after tonight's post game interviews. Nixon looked pretty detached.
Nixon just looked like he didn't want to be in front of a bunch of reporters answering questions after a loss like that.

I don't blame him. I'm sure nobody volunteered to go out for the press conference and Prohm had to pick someone.

Monte, Matt T and Deonte Burton improved under Prohm.
I think the one 'on the court' thing Prohm should get credit for is helping guys that were solid role players develop into alphas. Nader, Burton, Shayok, and Halliburton all fit this to an extent.

I thought it was odd, maybe indicative, that these 2 would be there. I would have thought after that loss MJ, Solo, or TH would have been, not 2 newbies.

I didn't realize just how apathetic I was towards ISU basketball this year until I realized the only two games I've watched so far this season was the Alabama game and the Iowa game - and I turned off the Iowa game before the end. Granted, I really don't start getting into basketball in any given year until football is over, but it's January now and football's over now I find myself not caring anymore than I did in November or December.

I've never really been either pro or anti Prohm. I thought the guy did a good job filling in after Hoiberg left for the NBA, but as more and more of Hoiberg's guys left for the team, due to graduation and/or leaving for the NBA themselves, it's just become harder and harder to watch. And now it's totally Prohm's team and I'm just not interested. While I don't need the excitement of "Hoiball", this team needs to do something well - shoot well, defend well, do the little things well - and it does none of that. They are this middling (at best) team that isn't fun to watch at all.

Something has to change, and if Prohm is unwilling or unable to make those changes, then Prohm himself will have to be the one that's changed.

Monte, Matt T and Deonte Burton improved under Prohm.
Shayok was also substantially better under Prohm. Some of that was due to system change, but the rest was due to allocating his skills well.

Lewis is playing better as of the last couple games. There may be some improvement there long-term yet.

This is the biggest upset according to espn BPI since they started the statistic in 2007. We own the worst loss in BPI history.

People at the bar were giving me **** last night for saying it’s the worst loss in ISU basketball history. But the analytics say it was. Now we are finding out it’s the worst loss IN ALL OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL over the last dozen years. Yikes.

I was thinking about this last night and I think it comes down to Prohm being a good guard coach but not a good bigs coach or a good team coach. Guards can individually develop well under him but the team only does well if the guards are good enough to pull the team along with them. It seems the team as a whole unit is not developed well.

Has a single player actually developed and improved under Prohm? Every example I can think of the player was good when they got here on day 1.

Wigginton
Lard
THT
Shayok
Haliburton
Bolton

And some of those you could say did well despite Prohm’s “leadership”. Now let’s look at 4* players that went nowhere here.

Lewis
Griffin
J. Long

I’m having a hard time finding a single example of someone that’s improved during their time here under Prohm.

Can we add McKay's regression from DPOY hoibergs last year to what he was under Prohm?

The DPOY thing was great accolades and all but it seemed like about any time McKay had to really guard someone it didn't go well. Great length to have around the basket to deter angles though.

Well, to be fair, McKay also being a total head case that season has some to do with his regression as well.

I mean was he a head case or was prohm just bad at managing him? There was definitely the impression the two didn't see eye to eye a lot of the time.

Everyone said the same kinds of things about the players streaming out of McDermott's teams before everyone accepted that it was more on McDermott than those players.

It's hard for me to imagine that there's an annual head case.
