I feel like some people have never seen the crap other fan bases do. Either that or they are so blinded by fandom that they think our players and coaches can’t do anything wrong.

People defended Rhoads and McDermott until the day their tenures ended. Many of them advocating that no one could possibly do better. That segment of fans that will always be with the current coach until the bitter end regardless of the facts still exists.

So it appears people aren’t tweeting at the players and some people think that we can only post positive stuff here.
There’s no excuse for tweeting at the players but if they are seeking stuff out then that’s a problem with them. It isn’t the fans. Basketball wise our fan base has been relatively calm based on the circumstances.
Hey did you see the paper bag thread? Just because the mods do a good job of cleaning up crap here doesn’t mean it’s been calm.

So we can’t call out bad behavior because other fans, cool.

So you want to hang your hat on one post that admitted it was made in jest. If there is actually crap then it can be called out. I’ve seen much more BS on here defending the staff than attacking them. I can’t even see half the posts from people defending the staff because they are bad faith posters on my ignore list.

Another one attacking a player was deleted. And I don’t see all of them, apparently you see none.

That was one random poster, and if you noted in that thread nearly everyone was like 'no, **** that', and i think even the OP mightve said it was a joke.

See above. A regular also had a post deleted, and I’m quite sure I don’t catch every deleted post, and you don’t either.

you never got back to me on twitter searching Steve prohm, did you do it? Do you imagine players get recommended tweets maybe?

I learned there were idiot cyclone fans in 1995 when the internet started to exist. Glad everyone is catching on.

I have no issues with criticism these days, that's how social media/msg boards exist.

players are celebs, coaches are millionaires, and cyclone fans pay serious $$$$$ to the university to support and attend games. the dollars involved today changes things too.

try telling a pro sports fan that people have to be directors club (12k+ what is it?) to sit lower level in ames, Ia for college bball and they look at you like you have two heads.

You've posted this twice now and it's not true. You can't just randomly direct message anyone on Twitter you want unless they open up that option. Very few people actually do, and I would guess the athletic department has instructed them not to for just this reason.
Right unless you have your privacy preferences set to dms from anyone you have to be following that person for them to dm you. Anyone you block cannot dm you.

I'll take the word of our basketball players and them cancelling their social media (smart move obviously) over anonymous chat board posters.

You don't have to take anyone's word for it. It's publicly searchable. I don't know how much more plain this could be.

If you choose not to use social media that's perfectly fine. But don't come on here and perpetuate incorrect accusations of others' bad behavior just because you don't know how it works.

This happens to even our best teams I remember monte morris telling people to kick rocks.. no surprise with a season like this people are tweeting trash. If players look on twitter hoping to find only supportive comments they are going to be disappointed.
