Brady and Rich weren't the reason Dantonio's Sparty teams finished in the top ten in the nation four times.

Don't move the goalposts. You cited his success against Michigan. There has been little since Harbaugh arrived and the games haven't been competitive with one exception.

You're right though. Dantonio's practices and the steadfast refusal to operate with any sort of decency as a human being or football coach is why that happened. Fortunately that stuff always catches up and in this case it exploded in his face.

It makes perfect sense. That program is a dumpster fire that can't recruit, has zero offense and no future. Why would anyone who plays them want that to change?

I only talked about Dantonio's humanity because it has directly lead to the issues that he has.

Sounds like the AD flew to Colorado, got turned down, then flew to SF to interview an assistant, got turned down, then flew to Cincy to interview Fickell.
The MSU AD arrived back in Lansing by himself.

I'd have to think if they dont land Fickell, this is going to look even worse.

Perhaps part of it might be the looming NCAA sanctions, but when you get right down to it, Dantonio ****ed over MSU. Who the hell retires from their football coaching job in February? At this point the coaching carousel (including the NCAA and the NFL) has come to an end, including assistants. Recruiting is basically done. Teams are now in the process of getting set for the 2020 season. Whomever it is that decides to take the MSU job (and, as is being found out, there aren’t many people that want this job at this point) is going to have to deal with what’s been put in place for this season - which wasn’t that great of a recruiting class to begin with. Here’s the point: Dantonio should have retired back in December or early January so MSU actually had a chance of successfully moving on. Now? They’re ****ed in 2020, and quite possibly a lot longer than that.

MSU would have given him that money regardless - or, they would have, if they were smart. The MSU decision-makers aren’t exactly into making intelligent decisions lately.

And, as I’m typing this, WXYZ in Detroit is reporting that Fickell turned down MSU’s offer in favor of staying at Cincinnati. As I said earlier, they’re ****ed.
