I'm getting word from my employer that the Fed's are trying to pressure the Nebraska and Iowa governors to issue a stay-at-home policy to follow Federal guidelines

Hearing the same from a coworker whose wife is some sort of federal lawyer or something.

thought this was a very easy to understand explanation of what this is and best practice for everyone

This x100. Gov Reynolds says she wants everyone together on this but areas of Iowa are not the same. Why you wouldn't let Polk or Linn County SIP is beyond me. We have a bulk of the population and cases. Where a small rural county may have none. Treating those exactly the same is crazy IMO.

I read that approach (partial SIP) as having a "no peeing" section of a public pool...

Yeah I was driving by a high school track the other day and there were probably around 30+ people walking around it, and there were another 10+ kids playing touch football on the field..

Get your exercise but holy cow people, use some common sense.

Mason City has now roped off playground equipment and shelter houses in city parks (restrooms and drinking fountains were already shut off). Walking trails and dog trails still open; use social distancing standards.

I'm conflicted on parks - as long as you shut down commonly touched surfaces (playgrounds, bathrooms, etc) there's no reason to keep people out of parks, as long as they are keeping their distance. Once the weather turns nice it isn't going to be possible to enforce keeping people inside all the time - we need to figure out how to allow people outside in a way that they aren't spreading it

This supposedly just came from the governors office. It is the same thing that people are actually calling for. Maybe this will be enough for people. I wish she would just cave on the name because it isn’t worth it at this point to argue over what you call it.

Not saying a SIP will just cut and dry end things or everyone will comply, but I can think of several people I know that aren't hearing an official directing, and are taking that as 'if you feel fine, keep on doing what you do, maybe just a little less' which will definitely lead to spreading.

This would be like putting out a sign that says "Please do not enter, however violators WILL NOT be prosecuted."

'Isolate if you are sick'.

People don't know if they are sick.

Why not 'assume you are sick, everyone outside of your home that you come into contact with is sick, and isolate'.

At this point I don't get why she doesn't just call it that. It isn't that big of deal may help a few more people stay home and save lives and I won't have to read about it anymore in this thread :)

Not exactly sure.
Checked late yesterday and down to one park that has the whole thing still taped off. Even the playgrounds in all but that one park are open now. Have one not far from us, haven’t seen anybody use it since.

You keep acting like places can’t be shut down now. Emergency proclamations are very far reaching. If you would actually reach out to someone your employer could get in trouble already. They probably wouldn’t go to jail but they shouldn’t. They would likely be told to let these people work from home and if needed they would put whatever new proclamation that they need to enforce it.

Hey, that's great messaging...for mid-March.

The debate is over. Kim stands in defiance of the US surgeon general, Dr. Fauci, her own board of medicine, and every public official in the worst-hit areas of the state.

Such a weird hill for people to die on to keep insisting there's no difference when there obviously is, even if none of us knows what it is - like a purely personal or political reason.

And now that some light has been shed on her inept "metrics" it looks even worse.
