I like that 2nd prediction. Really would help us with DeJulius and maybe Carton.

The other two seem accurate as well.

Was curious about transferring from Air Force and what that means. Looks like Freshman/Sophomores get a pass on their commitment to serve if their resignations are accepted.

"Fourth- and third-class cadets (freshman and sophomore) who are separated by the Academy, or whose resignations are accepted, will ordinarily be completely relieved from all military duty, active or reserve, unless separated for egregious conduct."

Once their junior year starts it gets a little dicier with obligations for active duty even if they leave the academy.

I've been curious about this too with the military academies. I thought I heard/read somewhere that if they leave and don't fulfill their service, after some point, they need to actually pay back for the education they received.

Biggest wants for tomorrow:
We get Turner
Texas Tech whiffs on Burton

Will settle for:
We get Turner
Tech gets Burton

Also ok:
We don't get Turner
Tech doesn't get Burton

Will be putting on my nut cup for:
We don't get Turner
Tech gets Burton

This post is for CW or anyone who listened to the latest podcast with Williams and Blum. What do you think CW meant when he was discussing recruiting and he said something along the lines of “I have a feeling or idea where this is going”

I'm just calling it how I see it. Obviously I love Steve and want him to succeed here. I'd love nothing more than for Steve to be the coach here for the next 10 years. But they still have 4 scholarships open off of a team that didn't sniff the bubble and are losing a lottery pick. Like Brent and I talked about, the next two weeks are HUGE for his future here. I don't think there is any doubting that. They gotta get some guys.

I'm now completely clueless on Turner. Just heard from somebody that it'll be Marquette. All of the national guys seem to think Missouri.

I will be surprised if it's Iowa State ... Not shutting the door completley but just keeping it real too.

I do think ISU is probably the leader for DeJulius.

Thanks Chris. Any idea on Carton?

This is exactly what several people here have been saying for months and there’s still a large group that just won’t buy it. If Prohm doesn’t win big this transfer season, it’s another garbage year next year, which means he’s gone. End of story.

I think the only argument to this is can we afford to rather than should we.

Thanks for the update and for all of the work that you do, CW. At this time any actual Cyclone news that I can get serves as a welcome distraction from the crazy world that we are living in now.

I hate saying this but it is still really early..Missing on these targets really sucs as anyone of the last 3 we were in on would be difference makers.

Steve has got to land 1 stud impact transfer...Bolton, SY and Javon(hoping) will all be solid big 12 players.. But you have to have 1-2 stud players to sniff the tourney.

Losing TH sucs but I truly don't think its as big of an impact as many think. He was a leader..great kid..good passer...but average defender...certainly not elite scorer..disappeared in big games offensively many times..Could not beat his man off dribble to get to rim..etc..

Love TH as a cyclone and kid but I can name 10 ISU PG's i'd take before him.

WTS, Just land 1 stud transfer Steve just 1. There will be several others who come on the board in the next few weeks. I also think things open up a lot if NCAA passes new transfer rule.

If we can land AJ Walker for this year that would be a very solid get btw.

Thanks for the reply CW, I appreciate it. I agree with you and would love CSP to be here long term, but results are results and Iowa State fans will not put up with mediocre basketball. I think that is why us fans have taken to the message boards and are hanging on every transfer that they are interested and why we get so disappointed when they miss. We know that next year could be another below average year if we don’t land difference makers.

Thanks for your honest opinion, I think that is what I admire most about your coverage of ISU athletics.

Even if they get Turner I don’t think it changes a ton for next year. They become slightly better so maybe NIT but still don’t think they are a tournament team. But any improvement would be nice. I’m looking more for what kind of sit outs they can get bc I think next season will be weird anyway because they are already talking about maybe not playing non con games. So with another year impacted by Covid, Steve wouldn’t be going anywhere.

1, we don't know who will fill the empty scholarships yet
2, we don't know the true talent level of the incoming freshmen. Haliburton vs Lewis shows you just don't know till they are in practice and games.
3, history shows we just need 3 key players. We don't know where those could come from.
