If cases keep going up or don’t decline by Memorial Day, you can’t just say **** it and open it all up at once. I’m guessing there will be a good amount of states that keep things shutdown through June.
Many states sure, but not IA (or other states with govs taking Reynolds approach)

That would be over 3 months. This Administration’s criminal behavior is prolonging the need for costly disruption, but we’ll need to stress whatever response by then

Not exactly sure.

One metric is the number of cases on a percentage bases. That way if testing doubles and cases go up (let's say) 50%, it shows that maybe they went up due to more wide spread testing. There are some other variables in there then just raw case numbers.

FWIW, our governor is signaling that he won’t extend the stay-at-home past 4/26 and Iowa seems to be in better shape last I saw.

With tomorrow being 4:20, that probably would need to opened up by then so everyone can hit the grocery stores.

Has testing doubled?

Second sentence, third word is "if". It means a hypothetical. They have that metric in there for percentages declining but raw numbers increasing. I was just giving an example.

If you are asking if they had, I don't think so, but haven't kept tract of it very well. I do know that yesterday and/or the day before was supposed to be the largest amount of daily tests performed to date, but am uncertain of the exact quantity.

Black Hawk county mostly, I'd assume. Linn County is a commute and I doubt it is cheaper to live in Linn County.

That is why I put a question mark. You may be surprised where people will commute from. There is a chicken ranch about 5 miles south of where I grew up and it has people commuting over 30 miles for 12-15 dollar an hour wages. I drive just under 30 miles for my main job. Know of others that commute over an hour to work.

I just looked at the map and if you go with the northern portion of the county (like Alice--had never heard of the town but picked a random one halfway between CR and the county line) and that was about a 40 mile drive. So I honestly don't know. Not sure what county is between black hawk and Linn, but I would guess that probably contains most of the employees in that area.

Buchanan (Independence) is north of Linn and Benton (Vinton) is West.

Interesting graphic- Sweden hasn't shut down their economy at all, except for voluntary, common sense measures. Their results are little different than everyone else's, but they are likely closer to herd immunity, and shouldn't have to worry about shutting down again later on.

Cool but I'd think 10 million people are a lot easier to get to buy in to guidelines. Let's see where they are in a month.

Personally I'd like to avoid risking the health of my lungs, and as an aside don't feel like being or feeling guilty of homicide for spreading it to someone that dies afterwards.

Just heard from a friend whose cousin works at the beef plant in Tama Said they finished testing all workers at the plant. Thinks that is 800 maybe 850.

Has an outbreak been rumored there or are they trying to get to a bunch of plants?

They've had 177 test positive per today's numbers. Obviously not sure if that includes all 800 that they tested. Could account for some of the new Linn County numbers.

The one plant did?

Well, still, if there's a bead on what % were positive, that's useful (maybe).

Hoping for the best for all those in the situation.
