Well the decision has been made, and I see a lot of risk for ISU. Certainly Jamie had already been elevated in the national rhetoric on covid and sports. Now we have an aggresive attendance policy for games, given what other institutions had/are planning, but that gives many an opportunity to support our team this year because of that decision!

Being in my 70's; with a stent in my heart; I opted out for this year, as my risk in attending was high. I will miss being there with many of you and seeing our dedicated players on the field in person; especially some of the seniors I have seen over their careers, as well as our Brock. I am looking forward to a successful season on TV, I know our team will perform; to a success level that has never been seen before in my lifetime, regardless of record, and I am confident I will be proud of our team this year, even more so than years past where I have attended home and away games; due to extra burdens placed on them by the "rona".

Cyclone Nation (those that will be there), be equal to the challenge we have placed on our team. Cheer loudly, represent us well, be extremely diligent in following rules for our team's sake, and help them be the champions they are!

Sorry, we’ve been in for two weeks, just kinda assumed everyone went the same time since most around here did.

Ames requested two extra weeks from the school board to keep working out in-person plans. You would have been right on the money without that.

It's a heck of a deal here trying to get it figured out. I'm glad we were all in for the online part from the beginning. It's much simpler for us.

So, for reference, the capacity for the rest of the league at this point:

Iowa State 40.65%
Baylor 25%
KSU- 25%
OU- 25%
OSU- 25%
Texas 25%
TCU- 25%
Texas Tech 25%
Kansas- 0%
WVU- 0%

We're a clear outlier here. Which seems like an odd position to be taking with how bad the situation is in iowa\ames right now, and with schools and bars closed.

Completely asinine. Ours priorities are ridiculous. Gyms? Bars (until recently)? 25k person football games? Great!! Primary education? Nah.
Yeah I have no idea why this is being allowed to happen. 25,000 people is a **** ton of people. This winter is going to be a mess.

To be honest I hope this falls flat on its face and barely anyone shows up. If they were smart.

Pollard putting the “if Fans don’t adhere to these policies, no fans will be allowed to attend the rest of the games” seems like a load of BS. He is going to have as many fans as possible due to money which I understand is important.

His threat holds as much merit as parents telling their kids that if they don’t behave, that Santa won’t come and bring them presents.

Pollard definitely gives zero ***** about any of our safety at this point.

25,000 fans gathering but bars are forced to close that have a fraction of that total.
Big difference is indoors vs outdoors and virtually no mask wearing at a bar. Obviously there are some people on here freaking out, but it being outside greatly reduces the likelihood of a super spreading event as aerosols quickly disperse in outdoor air.

Have you been to Alluvial or Torrent? Outdoor seating, masks, distancing and a fraction of the people. Forcing these businesses to close while allowing 25,000 to attend a football game is the definition not insanity.

I'm not saying its consistent. I would be all for allowing patios and outdoor venues to stay open with some mask and/or social distancing measures. I'm just saying the data is showing overwhelmingly that indoor vs outdoor makes a huge difference when it comes to super spreading events.

I'm aware of the increased risk of indoor vs outdoor. 25,000 people vs 50 people is a ridiculous comparison. You're going to have far more transmission with 25,000 people.

Story county had low transmission throughout the summer then a huge spike when students returned. Now businesses are being forced to close and schools are going to 100% remote learning. Now 25,000 more people are going to show up and interact?

1 person in doors could potentially infect all 50 people in a bar setting, and thats possible in every bar every night its open. It is virtually impossible for one person to do that in an outdoor stadium, even if 25,000 people are in attendance. Not all 25,000 people are going to be sitting next to the other 25,000. The only people at risk are those sitting right next to someone infected for a long period of time, so basically whatever group you're are with. There very well may be some infections that occur that way, but at least it will be easy to contact others in your group to notify them if you may have spread it to them.
