First time I remember Campbell really pissed (not at refs)

I remember during the game seeing Campbell getting super pissed and really yelling into his headset about something that I never seem to see. It was shortly before an assaley field goal. I wonder if he was pissed at the play all to run a draw on third and long the play before. Kind of glad if that is the case. Would have liked a more aggressive play call, especially since I think we only got a yard or two.

Makes sense, that draw was super conservative when they needed to take some chances.

If he was not happy with Manning/the play call, and he waited until after the play was over to get upset about it, then that's on Campbell. He's on the headset when the play call is being discussed/comes in.

I guess what I am trying to say is I highly doubt he was upset with the play call. It had to be something else.

I agree it probably wasn't the play called it was the Execution of the Play...that pissed off Coach Matt Campbell

I too dislike the offensive coordinator of two of the best offenses in Iowa State history and is probably the 2nd best offense in the Big 12.

Breaking offensive records over and over is getting old.
More talent than we have ever had on that side of the ball.
A lot of these records were not too terribly hard to break for a talented team.
Breece gets 3 yards on those first down inside zones where many other ISU running backs would lose a yard. That's Breece's ability, not Manning's.

Completely agree. Lincoln Riley also sucks and is only good because he has a heisman QB every year. Nick Saban isn't any good either and only wins because he has a boatload of NFL talent to work with.

What is the significance of setting records? There were several offensive records set last year, yet the team finished 7-6. In four of those losses, the team scored 17, 21, 17, and 9. And there were also the 13 scored in regulation against UNI, and the 23 scored against UT (who was giving up 31 ppg in conference play), which nearly resulted in two more losses. Except for one quarter against KU, the offense struggled the last four games of the season, which is the point of the season to which we are now coming. Sometimes, setting records gives a distorted view of what was really going on.

ISU's offense can put up big numbers, but also sputter badly at inopportune times. I really hope that ISU is past the sputtering thing. If so, ISU has a legit shot at winning out. Setting records is cool if it happens...wins are better.

We shall see...ISU's last three opponents are presently ranked #3, #8, and #2 in conference game scoring defense.

Has anything been confirmed from Campbell what this moment was about? I have not watched any post-game press coverage to answer that.
If not, then this is all speculation, and I fear that assumptions being pushed due to predetermined biases could then make a narrative that Campbell is unhappy with Manning.
Hell, it's blatantly obvious that is happening in this thread. The play call on 3rd and 10 from the Baylor 25 at 2:53 in the 2nd quarter was not a draw.

To reiterate - confirmation bias can lead people to interpret events as agreeing with their existing opinions.
We do not know why Campbell was yelling.

“More talent than we have ever had on that side of the ball”?

Not only is that erroneous, it also ignores the fact that three of what are clearly the best eleven on that side of the ball are injured and not playing. Over a quarter.

For someone who clearly has an “in” on recruiting and is considered something of an authority in that one area, you sure say odd stuff sometimes.
