Save these kinds of comments for your own sports opinion/talk show that has your name on it. I don't live in central Iowa anymore so I don't know if you had the makings of a reliable sportscaster, but this will be a setback for your career.

As a former television news consultant, trust me that you are off to a rocky start and I don't know if you'll recover from it.

If, KCCI keeps you do the professional thing and say that your feelings and biases got the best of you and it won't happen again. Be honest with the viewers, NOW. That's your only hope in this market or any other market to which you aspire.

If they don't keep you, I want to hear your explanation at your next job interview why you were relieved of your duties.

Yep, it's a cruel world and there is little to no forgiveness in television.

The reality is NO CONFERENCE is any good this year and parity is at an all-time high. The PAC 12 is terrible. The BIG Ten is terrible. The ACC has 2 teams. The SEC is perpetually overrated (they only beat each other and get constant credit for it).

Do I think the Big 12 is great this year? Hell no. But I also think it's basically Bama, Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, then a clear divide to everyone else. And I'm not 100 % convinced Notre Dame is great.

On any given day 5-25 are all mostly capable of beating each other multiple times out of 10 games. I just think it's funny a Hawkeye homer slams the Big 12 when half of the Big 10 is absolute trash. And that holds true in EVERY OTHER LEAGUE.

Lol - I mean I can put "opinions are my own" on my profile but that wouldn't hold much weight if my HR manager called saying sales were down after something I posted.

That said - not watching KCCI because of a rivalry joke a reporter posted on Twitter is exactly why people make fun of excessive cancel culture.

This is a very bad and unprofessional thing he did. Wonder if KCCI will do anything about it.

Unprofessional, sure. Very Bad? NO.

Don't get me wrong, if I were an exec at KCCI, I'd certainly sit down with him and have a "Cut it out." conversation with him while representing KCCI, but this certainly isn't anything that anyone should be calling for a person's job over. And as a fan base, we should be above worrying about someone's opinion that is obviously wrong.

Hell, I'm actually impressed he's calling for us to win the B12 Championship game.

Mine went something like this, but then I lost interest and failed to send:

"Good afternoon,

I have heard that you run a TV station or free lifestyle magazine of some sort in the Des Moines area. I am not going to research it, but I'll just take everyone's word for it that it's something like that. I also heard some guy at your company (or non-profit) said some stuff that was disparaging to ISU. I am afraid that the next Rory Walling might be walking the streets of Des Moines and see one of your coupon flyers or whatever it is you distribute on the corner, see these disparaging remarks and decide to go to Grandview instead of walking on at ISU. This would be a travesty and an outrage. I will not stand for this. I demand a public apology and additional $5 off coupons for an oil change at LOF Express. Just so you know I'm serious, I could by and sell this young Chap no problem, as I assume his price is $80, a $10 Casey's fuel card and two free tickets to the open Iowa practice at Valley Stadium.

Have you know journalistic and/or free lifestyle magazine and coupon distributor integrity?"

Good day to you sir!
I got a response in like 30 minutes. Nice!

Not exactly sure.
Not sure how old, maybe 40 something? Went to Roland Story I know
Finally found him on google. Kept getting this Canadian chess player at first. Different person than who I was thinking of that might have went to college at same time as me. Which is about 5-10 years older.

It's minor in some ways but a really stupid thing for a non-sports reporter to do. If this guy needs to cover news or has as a story about a scandal at Iowa State University, could KCCI even use him and would anybody trust him or the station?

Thank you for your email. Beau feels terrible for insulting ISU fans. I believe his intention was to be critical of the playoff system but he understands how ISU fans felt. And in reading his tweets I get why it felt like it crossed the line. I believe he will be apologizing and I hope you’ll accept it.

Thanks for watching and best of luck to the Cyclones.

All my best,

Reporters have the right to be outspoken fans of whoever they want. Yeah its unprofessional; you'd never see Keith Murphy throw the Hawks in the dumpster publicly, and so the guy is a 25 year old idiot, but that's no reason crush a whole company.
Wrong, he will never learn any younger. And any company stupid enough to hire someone with this lack of understanding how businesses operate should face repercussions.

I don't really care about this. I don't watch KCCI news and joked about that with my posts on the subject. He is presenting himself professionally as a KCCI news broadcaster on his Twitter. KCCI must not have a problem with it, but I know my employer has instructed employees not to represent themselves as such on social media for this very reason
