Since the start of the 2nd half of the Baylor game, ISU has outscored their opponents 135-36.

This team has been lights out on both sides of the ball since halftime of Baylor. Campbell must have given the speech to end all speeches.

OU has outscored their opponents 144-50 in their last 3.5 games.

This game could be nuts.

I think that's being nice. If the Baylor game showed us anything, it's that they still have their problems. Of course ISU could lose, but I'm feeling good about this one.

Me, too. The OU/West Virginia game will be fun to watch. Will be interesting if OU pulls Rattler early.

Or not, since it's been cancelled...

The conference championship game is set up exactly the way you’d want - the 2 best teams in the conference, playing their best ball of the year, on a huge stage with (an outside) shot at a playoff berth on the line.

Good guys by 10.
I’m pretty sure that in all my years in CF, all the long timers know that I’m a raging optimist. I’m often the first to contradict the Debbie Downers.

And right at the moment, I don’t see this game as anything other than a tossup. I’m...cautiously optimistic.

Subject to change, of course.

What I love about this game going into it is that we know we can stand toe-to-toe with OU. In years past, they always had several players where we were just outclassed at on certain positions. This year- they have a stud QB, so do we, and so on down the lineups. In fact, we’re stronger in some spots than they are (TE, WR, LB). For many, may years- this hasn’t been the case.
I’m so exited for this game and I’ll be there!

PS- go grab lunch at Babe’s Chicken House while in Dallas, good as it gets!

The Baylor game was the gut-check we needed. Being down only 10 at half after 3 interceptions kept us within striking distance.

Our consistency has been key this season. We have been held to <10 points/half in only two halves this whole season (2nd half of Louisiana and 1st half of Oklahoma State...our only losses)

Conversely, we've held opponents to <10 points/half in 9 halves (Tech, KSU and WVU contributing to six of those; KU,TX and TCU providing the other three)

No reason to think we don't beat Oklahoma again.
I think we win this. No idea on the playoffs. I suspect no, but anything seems vaguely possible.

Everyone is saying that right now Oklahoma isn't the same team that played in Ames and they are right, but we also aren't the same team that played that night. Both teams are playing their best football right now. This game is going to be epic.

We are going to have to play well on both sides of the ball because OU can put up points. OU defense is still their weak spot and they put up 62 points against both KU and TTU so you can take their numbers with a grain of salt because during that same stretch minus the KU game we were playing better competition in Texas and supposedly WVU who had allowed just under 18 points a game before we put up 42 on them.

This may sound cliché but we are going to have to play our best game on both sides of the ball to win this because OU is going to put up points so I can see this being another game where the winning team is going to have to score in the 30's or 40's to win just like our 1st meeting that was 37-30. Spencer Rattler looks a lot better and more confident now then he did to start the season.

I can't agree with that. We beat OU not playing our best. We can do it again. I see two fairly evenly matched teams - the team that plays better will win. That won't necessarily need to be our best - just better than they play. THAT is the difference between this year and any other year for ISU.

I think it's a good sign that Oklahoma's offense didn't dominate Baylor's defense which is schematically similar to Iowa State's.
Here is a fairly well written analysis on how they stopped OUs run game. I'm sure the staff will be studying what Baylor did.

I love write-ups with clips that break down some of the finer points. It really shows what each side is trying to do.

My biggest concern with OU is how effective they throw the deep ball for either a completion or PI. You can play great defensively, but those chunk plays are brutal for flipping the field and momentum. If OU lined up and threw 3 (catchable, not overthrown or out-of-bounds) long balls, I feel like they would get a catch or PI on one of those a fairly high percentage of the time.

I think Campbell would like to keep this score lower, but I'll be somewhat surprised if both teams don't end up >30.

Speaking of OU vs WVU, I’m not used to seeing conference games and thinking, “we’ll, we beat them. And them” flip channel, “And hell, we beat those guys too!”

Good times.
