Prohm is a clown and I’d expect we lose Xavier and maybe others if he’s not fired ASAP.
Foster has already committed to a maximum of 2 years at Iowa State. He’s not here to help make the team better, he’s here for a stepping stone to the next level.

Thanks. You apparently didn't read very hard, and are also making **** up, since I didn't say Prohm has a culture problem, but pointed toward some specific things that imo indicate a lack of discipline.

So I'll paraphrase.

Talking trash is common. Happens often. Niang was great at it. I don't recall him constantly turning toward the opponent's bench throughout the game though. I doubt he would have done that on a historically bad team.

And please don't post the gif of Niang blowing the kiss. That was a game that was well in hand toward fans that were likely after him the entire time.
Pretty much all of the Cyclone fans loved Niang's trash talking and yes he did direct it toward the opposing bench often - probably more than Haliburton did. If Hali's was a discipline problem so was Niang's. Personally I don't think either was.

Yes there are serious problems with Prohm's teams but for some reason you guys seem to think that you have to create more. It is ridiculous - as is this thread.

I am not a Prohm defender, but you might as well sit down, shut up, and hold for next year. Won’t do any good to lose your mind as Prohm will DEFINITELY be the coach next year even if he loses every game this year. In case you haven’t noticed there is a pandemic and revenue is waaaay down....and we got a football coach to pay that is winning. If you gotta shut it off then shut it off. But ******** about is just going to get super annoying and won’t change anything.

I agree, he'll probably be here next year, baring a McDermott-esque miracle.

I'm probably late to the party with Prohm, as I know a lot of people were ready to fire him last year.
I no longer think he's going to figure it out, and ISU shouldn't be a place where you get to learn on the job either. Whenever JP pulls the trigger, I'm totally on board with and don't feel bad for Prohm.
His program is a dumpster fire right now.

By next level do you mean a better program? Cus that kid has a long ways to go before being an NBA player.

This is a stupid take. There are plenty of teams that can beat them. The NCAA Tournament is a crap shoot and it takes one off night for Garza to get them knocked out. They can beat any team out there, but any team in the top-30 CAN beat them if they play their best that night and Iowa is even slightly off. You have to play defense at some point historically to win the National title. Just go back and look up the champs and their defensive numbers.

Agree. Just send two or three guys at Garza and get him in foul trouble. Iowa is average without him. Hell, we were playing with them whenever he was out. And we ******* suck.

Well considering the only reason he picked us over Iowa was because of our reputation of getting guys into the NBA, take that’s as you wish. But I definitely agree with you. He’s got a LONG ways to go..

love it.

like I said earlier, not accepting mediocrity, but a college coach’s job is to ultimately prepare his kids for the next level. Prohm is consistently sending his players to the NBA. No scandals, fits ISU culture and is relatively cheap. Let’s play out the season and see what next year brings.
LOL this is both extremely funny and extremely sad. Because it’s fans like this that remind me that Iowa State basketball isn’t likely to be relevant again any time soon.

No, Prohm’s job’s ultimate job is not to prepare kids for the next level, he’s not a ****ing G-league coach. His job is to win games. His job was to keep Iowa State relevant, and keep it on the upward trajectory it was on when he took over. Or my God at least try to sustain it.

A couple players are getting into the NBA. Not a lot, literally just a couple. And we’re on the verge of being a bottom feeder 3 out of 4 seasons. After Iowa State had established itself as a mainstay at the top half of the conference and a top 25 program. Year after year. And in just a few short season’s, Prohm squashed all momentum. All of it. The program, not just this year’s team but this PROGRAM, is now among the worst in the conference. Steve is fully responsible for the last 4 seasons - fully responsible (including an epic collapse with one of the most talented rosters we’ve had in our history). How is any of this is remotely acceptable!? How is a program that does not emphasize defense, rebounding, or toughness, or winning - how is that a culture that ‘fits’ Iowa State!?

Was that the only reason? I thought there were also rumors he couldn't stand the McCaffrey kid, his gf was at ISU, he got along really well with ISU players, ect. Prohm has yet to show he can get a true big man into the league. In all honesty, Foster should have gone to Baylor. Players with his build have been very successful there. He could have been an Isaiah Austin type player there.

Steve's line ups and rotations are always so frustrating. Foster should have played more last night.

I actually think there's some experimentation going on. A lot of 2-big line-ups last night. Dubar starting, Blackwell playing the 1st half, Foster the most minutes he's played so far. I think Foster's minutes continue to increase, at GC's expense.

Xavier must be confused about his playing time. Why in the hell does Conditt even see the floor? Dubar would be a better option down low than him. Seriously, Conditt is playing more than a 5 star seven footer?

GC needs to transfer. He's actually worse than he was as a freshman.

Could be other non-public reasons, but that’s the main factor that he publicly stated why he chose us over Iowa.

So is Shayock the 2017-18 NBA player you are referencing? The guy who has played in 4 NBA games for a total of 28 minutes? The guy who sat out the 2017-18 season as a transfer? Or do you mean Wigginton who has only played in the G League?

The 2018-19 team was decimated by injuries all season long.

Last year the NBA lottery pick you referenced missed almost half of the Big 12 season with a broken wrist.

It is bad, we all know it. But there is no reason to post misleading information. Why not just watch or ignore the season as you see fit and evaluate the team and their progress at the end of the season because we all know Jamie will not pull the plug mid-season. That isn't his style.
Yeah but Even when we had Halliburton we sucked

I’ve not been in the fire Prohm camp, but I’m not hopeful much growth occurs this year. But we have to wait it out at this point and make sure we can do whatever we can do for CMC. I’ll watch when I notice the game is on, but not sure I’ll do any planning around it.

My 2 cents is that there is no reason to be wasting our time or energy on this topic at this point...

Firing coach Prohm after this season would be a huge financial headache, which would hurt even more due to the loss in revenue caused by COVID. So in reality, nothing happens this season or next. Let’s cheer on the athletes and see what happens this next couple seasons. If the team look good next year, then a bigger discussion needs to be had, if the team doesn’t show any promise or things keep getting worse then it is time to part ways.
