You guys are mad? 3 true freshman and a Cuban kid wrestling today. Count in Broderson who is also still very green. The true freshman and Cuban wrestled very well. Only big surprise is Parker and Tate who could be the backup before long.

A loss due to lack of experience in the young guys wrestling in their first DI match up is definitely a loss you should be able to live with. Had this been a healthy lineup with vets I think it would be a different conversation.

Agree Parker was definitely a disappointing loss. I wish Battani would've pulled through in the beginning when he was setting himself up instead of landing himself on his back.

Why would we not be upset with this performance?

We lost 3 winnable matches in the third period. We got pinned twice. We chose down with a lead and got ridden out to lose.

Missouri had two true freshmen today too. They both won.

It’s not the end of the world, but we don’t have to enjoy what happened today.

Has Missouri taken a shot yet? Fn horrible wrestling to watch.

I've been out of the wrestling world for a few years, but what is the consensus on funk?

It can lead to some great scrambles, but to me, it looks like it's being used more as a defensive crutch that creates a lot of stalemates and rewards the less aggressive wrestler. I understand sports change, and it's more fun when your guy is winning, but what I watched today wasn't good wrestling.

Casual wrestling fans always overreact to duals. There are a lot of factors at play, and a dual in January with a bunch of freshmen isn't anything to get too worked up about.

Yea but at least you had 3 true freshman out there all wrestling ranked opponents. They fought hard and you can live with those losses.
My thoughts as well. Those guys competed, they just did not finish. They got better IMO. 165 is what is is, 174 was bad, 184 is a guy who tries hard but wrestled w/ little awareness today. 197 was a few things but he tried hard.

This. There could be new starters next week at 3 different weights. All guys that are former NQs and a two time all AA

The Cuban is going to lose matches like that due to his background. That will get corrected.

It is different from the "impose your will" style we see in this state most often. One of those things when it is your guys, you love it and hate it when it is the opponent. I am fine with it but if I have a guy capable of more, I want them putting on pressure IMO.

not at all- no reason to be. I won't make excuses for an ass whooping either nor will our coaches. We should not have lost to that team by 25 points today with who we put on the mat.

My thoughts on the dual..

125-True Freshman showing promise against ranked opponent.
133-See 125.
141-Getting caught for backpoints early cost him the match. Was definitely the aggressor and ran out of time.
149-Freshman losing to the #3 guy by decision. I'll consider it a win. Lots of promise from Cam.
157-Carr doing Carr things.
165-The obvious open wound in the line up.
174-Broderson going for the gusto costs him this time. Maybe he's better suited for 184? I personally think he fits better there and might have more energy at that weight.
184-Gotta get Sam back there.
197-I know Bastida is a freestyle guy, but his lack of mat wrestling will hinder him this year.
HWT-Ranked underdog win. I love it when Gremmel is a bully out there.
