Anyone else hearing that JP has already decided Prohm is coming back?

Heard Jeff Hornacek was in Ames this week which was a bit surprising and interesting timing during the all star break. Been with the Rockets for the last year as an assistant. Was last a head coach in 2018 for the Knicks. Possibly ready to be a head coach again and knows he won’t get another NBA gig? Seems like a good situation from his end.

Is this like in 2015 when you said Hornacek was going to be our next head coach?

I have no sources or inside info but if Prohm is fired ,I hope him and Campbell are not real close friends. Contracts can be bought out both ways. Campbell is a sought after coach.
Thats why Steve has to bbe treated professionally if he is let go, ie, pay the buyout as you agreed previously in his contract. If you negotiated a bad contract, it is your fault, not Steve's. Do not expect or even ask for consideration from Steve Prohm if you terminate him!

Whoa; sounds like you have it on good sources. I can only imagine who the candidates JP would have lined up for interviews - and if they are still available ??

I highly doubt those “good sources” are real. There is a near zero chance that Pollard was going to fire Prohm after last year just one year removed from a 5 year contract extension. Probably a 0.00% chance.

I wonder if there was at least just a little bit of second guessing on Pollard's part in offering that extension considering how weird that season got at times.

Nothing is more tangible than spending on improved coaching.
Getting donors to pony up has been a weakness of JP’s but there’s been more donor support for MBB coaching than since 2015 than you’re implying. Likely because they know spending on coaches is more important than arms race facility spending.

You have to be kidding me! I am not going to let you get away with throwing out the bolded line above.

I don't have exact numbers but NCC donations were barely $4 million a year when Jamie got here 14 years ago. They show $12+ million a year now. Maybe you think it should be more. Good for you, write a bigger check! Everyone calls Jamie cheap or conservative! Maybe we all need to look in the mirror and think about who is cheap!

My guess is in the years JP has been here, the Athletics Department has spent more money on facilities than in all the history of Iowa State before JP got here. While a lot was with debt, there were large private gifts for every major project. Private facility related gifts have been well over $100 million in the last 14 years. It would be interesting to know the exact number.

You can complain about coaching hires, but JP knows how to raise money!

I’m sure I’ve left a lot off the list.

I don’t know how much he did during the major conference earth quake, but I’m pretty sure he has had our backs at every turn. Sure, the skeptic will say that was for his legacy, but if you can’t see what this man and his staff have done for Iowa State, then you are too dumb, or too young, or both. I’m starting to remember why I loathe social media. For all the good it brought, the ugly is much worse.
