Its what he wanted to do last time.

Its what he probably is doing this time.

He's making a hire that determines the future of the next several years for the program. That makes it worthy of doing a full search and interview process. Never know if someone will excel in their interview.

Your response to me pointing out the people whining about a process they factually know nothing about at this point is to whine about a process you know nothing about at this point? There is literally nobody in here who has any idea what Jamie did to get to this decision.

But you are assuming this search didn't start until Prohm was let go. It was pretty obvious a change was needed back in January. I'd expect that Pollard was conducting the search over the past few months. He's really good at keeping that under the radar.

And he will do the same if TJ doesn't succeed....that's the business side of this all

I saw Stanz tweet in response to the firing "it's a cruel business". It's actually a very generous business....Prohm could likely never work again....it's not cruel...if you can make it to D1 head coach, you are taken care of...win or lose. :)

Terrible hire. His head coaching resume speaks for itself.... he's Prohm 2.0. He'll bring in some decent players.... just like Prohm was able to do..... but won't be able to coach them.... just like Prohm.

He had talent at UNLV, and stunk it up.

TJ is not on ANY schools hot list of coaches to hire right now.... none. Nobody would want him. We only do because he's buddies with JP, and has a history at ISU. JP even said in his taped recording that he wouldn't necessarily hire a head coach with great record or resume, but rather one that is the right fit for ISU..... you knew right then it was TJ.... terrible resume as a head coach.

Hope I'm proven dead wrong on this one and TJ learns how to coach all of the sudden. This does absolutely nothing for my excitement of ISU basketball going forward. I don't think much of Cyclone Nation will be too excited about it.

I know TJ loves Iowa State. And Iowa State IS his dream job. We’ve all known TJ has wanted this opportunity at ISU. I hope his enthusiasm and love for this university spreads success. We know he will bring in high quality Big 12 athletes. Can he coach them?

None of us really know if TJ will end up working tonight but the ISU has been what TJ has been working for since he left to assist Romar au UW. I am sure his plan to succeed at ISU was very attractive and translatable to Jamie.
If it does work I do think TJ is much more likely to stay in Ames than a lot of the other coaches being discussed over the past 2 weeks.
I guess Jamie is looking for his version of Beard at TT.

If you REALLY think that this was a 24 hour search, I don't know what to tell you. Everyone knew that Prohm was gone for at least a month now.
JFC . Of course it started weeks ago, I’ve been saying that. Everyone has been saying that.

But there are constraints to not having a vacancy. As in, you can’t generally interview candidates. Who benefits the most from those constraints? The guy you know.

It’s not complicated.

Uhm..Yes they would. Some of the coaches to be considered at MId Major level would go from Mid Major to generational wealth..Darn right they would answer that zoom call.
They absolutely would after the season, but not while they're in Indiana getting ready for a tournament game

Yes, just think of all that talent he had at UNLV (trying to think of a name of even one player that isn’t named Caleb Grill).

I’m guessing he will look to bolt to Wisconsin. I doubt he’s the head coach in 6 years because that’s the way it goes here.

Interesting there doesn't seem to be legs to the initial story by the LV Review-Journal that TJ is the next coach. Not seeing any national sites independently reporting.

TJ could be the guy, but maybe this is why Jamie said in his press conference this morning to not believe anything except from ISU's Athletic Dept.

The paper could have great sources or they could be doing the bidding of UNLV. Jamie would have had to ask UNLV to interview TJ. So who benefits most by getting the story that TJ is the guy? UNLV. They might feel they have ISU over a barrel and having the report out there gives them stronger leverage in keeping TJ's buyout at $3M.

It could be someone in media or UNLV AD with an axe to grind with TJ. Weaken his position at UNLV, even if he doesn't get the ISU job.

Maybe Jamie knew this was going to get nasty, when he made his statement this AM.

This will go down as the worst coaching hire since Gene Chizek. Are they going to mint some coins with this guy’s face on it? The Wizard of Otz. Nothing to see here. Ignore that man behind the curtain!
Chizik wasn’t that bad of hire. We didn’t have to pay to get rid of him and things didn’t regress much.

Prohm was much worse, particularly the extension/buyout in 2019

That’s right. Wayne Morgan won a NCAA tournament game in his second season after inheriting the LE fiasco.

lol at JP implying it’s going to be a long rebuild whilst hiring his unproven friend. Shoot the arrow and paint the target.

TJ should be hired if he represents the fastest way to rebuild. He has provided reasons to think he’ll pivot the roster and hire to offset his weaknesses. Big spring ahead.

Did Larry go winless in his last year? He had Vroman, Homan, Sullivan plus Blaylock and Stinson incoming.
