I agree.

Someone keeps saying we should keep Daniyal Robinson. I know he is highly regarded as a "top assistant in the Big 12" but I just don't see it. Part of McDermott and Prohm failures. Why should he be retained?
Daniyal Robinson's only experience at the P6 level is at Iowa State. Other P6 programs haven't hired him so I don't know why people would want him to stay.

Any coaches with children or siblings that appear to be NBA lottery picks that we could bring in? Seemed to work well for OSU.

I'd put the odds of that happening near 0 and we shouldn't want it to. I think the actual staff is going to be pretty impressive.

Agreed. For one, Naz is going to continue playing competitively for as long as he can. He'll have plenty of years to coach after, if that's the direction he wants to go.

I'm hoping TJ can bring at least some of his UNLV staff with him. Tim Buckley has great experience and probably lots of connections in the upper midwest, having spent a lot of his career in Indiana, Wisconsin and Illinois.

FWIW, I think Charlie Henry replaced TJ as an assistant at ISU when TJ went to Washington. I think Henry was in a non-coaching staff position before that, so I'm sure he and TJ have a relationship, but I don't know that he's going to make a lateral move from Alabama, when Nate Oats is the one who gave him his first coaching job.

IT's probably just coincidental but every place a plane(like a real plane not a single piston Cessna)
Based on what?
Based on the fact that you and others like you are going to have serious egg on your face.

????????????????

Yeah, we shouldn't want former head coach with good X's and O's (Lansing), young up and coming assistant with success at SEC school (Henry) or a former player with NBA experience and great personality (Naz)...

TJ has assembled a better staff than that at UNLV. His staff there is better than ours was. I think you are far underestimating his connections. We'll see but in typical fan fashion you just come up with a handful of guys you've heard of and say this would be great. TJ will hire guys he has connections with and trusts. Matt Campbell was praised for doing just that. Staff continuity.

It also makes sense to keep this info close to your chest just in case a potential Coach TJ wants to assemble a slightly different staff. Helps prevent any FOMO bias on the fan base’s part from clouding the actual picks he makes.
It's also important to realize that this mysterious awesome staff was noted as such by CW after he acknowledged that TJ is one of his best friends. To CW's credit, he made that clear early on in the podcast, but I'd take anything said on that podcast w/ a large grain of salt based on that.

I also think it comes down to who can we afford? I see money as being a big problem right now.

Can include in the new staff's contract a cease and desist on recruiting the SE from here going forward until me either make a final 4 and are competing on that stage or have a life-long ISU fan who's family is located in the region?

What is your, or others on here, expertise on judging his capability?
I trust other P6 coaches, non of which have ever hired him. Iowa State is the only P6 program he's every worked at. Hoiberg's staffs, for comparison had guys like Sadler and Lutz who has experience at the mid-major level, the P6 level, and head coaching experience themselves. Hell, Sadler was a P6 head coach at one point. Even Charley Henry now works for Nate Oats at Alabama. Abdelmassih went to St. Johns, etc...
