Pollard being arrogant over the years

I wouldn’t call it arrogance. Stubborn maybe. Especially when committed to a strategy. Frustrated when getting questions that have the luxury of hindsight, yes. But I think most of us would have similar reactions.

let’s just hire our buddies? Right ? Don’t kick the tires on any one? I hope
Tj works? Just a lazy ass hire IMO?
Have you been following him around? How do you know TJ isn't about 10th on his list of people contacted? How do you know he didn't talk to a bunch of people who politely said thanks but no thanks?

Unpopular opinion here but Chizik was a great hire. He laid to foundation via recruiting for Rhoads' early success.

Can we all agree? Some of his big moves had created success.. dresser,,Campbell, hoiberg.. others others are failures.. greg. Prohm, Kevin Jackson, chizik, maybe tj is tbd..

JP is a lot of things as are we all. But arrogant would be down on the list IMO. He has done very well for ISU and like I have said before probably has forgot more about management than most on this site will ever know. Which is why I was so disappointed with that pod. Just seemed like a re-hash of 2006. I'm hoping he does one of his famous "gotcha's" on this hire and makes me want to retire his jersey. I can hope.

We are all arrogant sometimes. The guy has done more for Iowa State athletics than anyone in my lifetime. He has some failed coaching hires but find me one athletic program that has hit on every hire. I mean let’s give TJ a chance before we declare him a bad hire. I would rather have gone a different direction but geesh. He is our coach now so let’s do it and quit making stupid threads.

You think we interviewed other candidates while not having a vacancy and many possible coaches aren’t done? Aren’t you the guy claiming the delay in announcing Prohm was done because the meeting had to be in person? Lol

We didn’t do a genuine search. And being in a position in which it’s clear a candidate like TJ is so undoubtedly your best option is a sign of how bad of decisions JP has made in MBB the last 6 years

I don't think that is what is happening. And I would imagine donor buyout money and the conditions associated with it would have more to do with in than anything. I also think TJ is a good fit.

Jamie didn't wake up Monday and decide Prohm was done. He's known for awhile. I guarantee he's got a list of coaches in mind at all times in case of a vacancy. As soon as his decision to let Prohm go was final he was very likely doing his job and putting feelers out.

Coaches interview while their seasons are still going on all the time. The hiring party reaches out to the agent to gauge interest. Agent relays it back to their client and says yes or no to interest. If yes, an interview is set up and done.

And I'd like to point out I pretty much nailed the timeline, no?
Said they'd meet. They did.
Said there'd be an autopsy/vision for the program discussion. There was.
Said Jamie would likely say peace out. He did.

I told you how it was going to happen. I can't help that you don't understand how adults operate. Jamie did exactly what I would expect someone in his position to do as it relates to terminating an employee.

Way up there
JP is extremely thin skinned. Idk if I'd call him arrogant but he certainly gets a condescending attitude when he feels he's being questioned. I think its more about being defensive than arrogant. TJ is a bit of a disappointment but it's pretty consistent with the type of guy JP looks for, he's always gone the mid major route hoping to catch lightening in a bottle. He has had some big misses from the fans perspective but from the AD's ($$$$$$$$$)pov, he's made solid hires. The only way he's changing the way he does things is if it starts impacting the money coming in. It's easy (and fair) to criticize his hires/extensions but looking at his overall body of work, it's tough to find reasons he should deviate from how he does things.

You! Jamie by being so focused on hiring him for so god damned long. His friends.

Obviously you snd the others see something in him that makes it worth offering him so quickly. I look forward to seeing it.

If TJ was thought to not be a good Coach for Iowa State then JP would not even consider him as a candidate. Stop with the BS. TJ has been offered 2 Head Coaching Jobs in the last 5 years and has moved up the Coaching Ladder. Those hirings do not take place if he is not well thought of. And some of the names mentioned as possible candidates like Grant Gibbs. Grant Gibbs? He has no experience at all in College Coaching. Good Grief. The No TJ Crowd is brain dead.

I don't know if I would call JP arrogant or not, but I would definitely call you arrogant.

Pollard leadership has been great. He has some misses in hiring coaches, but that is the nature of the business. Pollard knows T.J. and that is an advantage in my opinion. He knows his strengths and his weaknesses. I am 100% confident that Pollard won't hire him because they are friends. He will hire him if he thinks he is the best choice. Iowa State Basketball is too important to Iowa State and Pollard for him to not try and get who he thinks is the best man for the job.

We can throw out all these other names, but each one has risk. Remember how everyone thought Fred was the worst hire ever because he had no coaching experience. That worked out ok. Fact is, we have to trust Pollard to pick the right guy.

*Here is a list of coaches the AD has hired.*

This is my whole and complete argument regarding arrogance.
