Of course you are. I just get tired of all the anti-pollard sentiment on here. Not one of us has a clue what all goes into play here. Obviously money is a big one.

I wouldn’t assume TJ’s hired because they’re friends. If that was JP’s line of thinking the CSP wouldn’t have been fired. My guess is what Jamie did when he met with Prohm was one of the toughest things he’s done. At least he did it face to face unlike most AD’s that would do press releases.

Best thing about this thread is that it keeps a picture of the Poop Smith from Homestar Runner up at the top of the forum. Man, those were the days - good old Flash videos.
I have a window cling set that included The Cheat and he’s been in the back window of my cars for a long time. “Hey, The Cheat! Say ‘Douglas...’”

One of my crowning achievements as a parent was introducing my boys to Strong Bad emails (I own the DVD box set)! That and instilling a love of The Adventures of Pete & Pete! Im taking them to Mooby’s in a couple weeks, but they’re not quite old enough to watch Jay and Silent Bob...

Your endless sarcasm and snark is feeding my soul life. Thank you.

I try.

But I’m very serious about that. It is a good skill to have in such a public position. It makes a person understand why he’s such a great recruiter and why he could be successful here.

If one were to have a checklist of relationships to have in this job—first would be the AD, then multiple media members, then donors.

Couple things wrong with this post. TJ escorted a couple of players to the transfer portal in his first year (who are now doing well at other schools), and even pushed Amauri Hardy, now at Oregon, out the door last year (who he actually really needed this year, since Jenkins turned out to not be who we thought he would be). The ones that left when Menzies was fired were JTT of Baylor, and Ntambwe who left TT before the year started, after sitting out a year. Both good players.

Also, Menzies didn't clean house when he got to UNLV, there was no one left, players went pro, or left because Rice was fired. He had a DII Juco player as point guard (who knew there was a D2 Juco, lol) and got embarrassed badly by Duke. He had his best class coming in when he was fired, but the Rebel boosters wanted him out, and the AD didn't want to wait in case he had a great year.

So let's be clear.....TJ "escorted" or "pushed" 2-3 players out the door(transfer portal) that are doing well elsewhere and he actually needed because one of his recruits which he took/brought from SDSU didn't turn out not to be what "we" thought he would be?

This isn't exactly the picture people advocating him have been painting. And that is......"yes, his record isn't that great but ignore that because he is an expert at identifying talent and putting the pieces in the puzzle of success." You just shot that down.

Next.......who is "we"? Are you part of the coaching staff?

I would be highly surprised if there wasn't official news today. While nothing is yet done, I think the last couple things should be ironed out yet this morning.

As I’ve been saying since yesterday. I’d be shocked if announcing today wasn’t always the plan.

Does Pollard leave for Indy again today? Or is he already there?

Honestly, I'm fine with TJ. He was probably my 3rd choice but with some of the names people have been slinging around I rather have TJ.

However, we need to stop acting like this is a money thing. TJ has a 3 mil buyout and IIRC the highest paid coach in the MWC. Getting TJ isn't some cheap move unless TJ is coming to take a haircut. If that is the case cool, but if not you probably have to pay TJ more than other candidates.

Is there any evidence that TJ has the unique capability to retain Foster and Hunter? Are old WI ties enough for Hunter, and would he bolt if a different coach were hired?

Seems like people are completely guessing on that.

Other than the fact that people throughout and around the program still think extremely highly of him? Some people just have that personality trait that draws people to them. TJ sounds like he could be one of those people.

I still am in the camp for Craig Smith. His buyout is only 1.03 million... and he wins wherever he goes. I don't know much about his recruiting hotbeds, but a W is a W. Right now ISU needs all the W's it can get.

Obviously everyone hopes TJ will be successful, and I will support him and the program going forward, but I think Pollard messed up by releasing that video. He fumbled this "search". If TJ was the guy, just say TJ was the guy. Why release a 9 minute video with half truths? I'm sure he's not happy of the report out of Vegas exposing that this was already done. He's got a lot riding on TJ being successful, if he's not he's in some hot water
