If David Jenkins Jr. wants to come with TJ again, we’d 100% take him right?

Obviously everyone hopes TJ will be successful, and I will support him and the program going forward, but I think Pollard messed up by releasing that video. He fumbled this "search". If TJ was the guy, just say TJ was the guy. Why release a 9 minute video with half truths? I'm sure he's not happy of the report out of Vegas exposing that this was already done. He's got a lot riding on TJ being successful, if he's not he's in some hot water

JP's gotta JP.

I have figured out why I’ve never liked the idea of TJ. I like an underdog. And he’s never been an underdog. He’s close with the AD. He’s close with the media. He’s close with the money people. And he has certain posters on here that only show up to talk him up. And while he may deserve this job, those items make it SEEM like he’s getting based on those relationships.

To compound this, after Fred left we followed it up with a traditional process to hire someone who checked a lot of boxes (HC experience, winning record, good recruiter, style of play), and it blew up in our faces. Which would encourage Pollard to go back to his method of identifying and zeroing in on his candidate.
Which we started very late largely because of JP.
And looked at the wrong things, or at least favor unimportant things over basic red flags- ZERO high major experience, inherited good situation, poor staffing and recruiting plan, little ability or desire to play the recruiting “game” and so on.

JP was in a good spot choosing Prohm. Any mid-manager yes man would do the same. If it worked, great (and he’d get the credit), if it didn’t, he could blame Leath

I still am in the camp for Craig Smith. His buyout is only 1.03 million... and he wins wherever he goes. I don't know much about his recruiting hotbeds, but a W is a W. Right now ISU needs all the W's it can get.

I believe Smith would take the call but not the job, particularly if Minnesota is calling, but I wouldn’t be mad about hiring him. Based on resume, I’d have the same concerns with Smith’s recruiting as one might have with TJs W/L record, but at least we’re comparing resumes of likely candidates instead of shouting in circles. No one ever wins vs. the anonymous Field.

So let's be clear.....TJ "escorted" or "pushed" 2-3 players out the door(transfer portal) that are doing well elsewhere and he actually needed because one of his recruits which he took/brought from SDSU didn't turn out not to be what "we" thought he would be?

This isn't exactly the picture people advocating him have been painting. And that is......"yes, his record isn't that great but ignore that because he is an expert at identifying talent and putting the pieces in the puzzle of success." You just shot that down.

Next.......who is "we"? Are you part of the coaching staff?

I bet he’s a family member.

Is there any evidence that TJ has the unique capability to retain Foster and Hunter? Are old WI ties enough for Hunter, and would he bolt if a different coach were hired?

Seems like people are completely guessing on that.
A P5 AD isn’t hiring TJ unless they “know” the outcome of the Hunter situation. Similar to how transfers often know where they’re going prior to announcing they’re transferring.

Jobs a done deal- UNLV coaches found out yesterday. Pollard is stretching this out so it doesn’t look like this had been a done deal for a while. Very simple

He's not a PG. He's a 6'2" combo guard. We already had Rasir Bolton. TJ benched Jenkins during the UNLV season because of effort. He is a 40% 3 pt shooter.

Tough decisions!

Pollard only went with Prohm because Leath forced his hand.

Well that’s certainly interesting.. Yeah I saw some highlights and the guys 3pt % but you’re right there could be some issues. Also, I’m really not sure we need another 6’2” combo guard.

We collect those like they’re going out of style.

It all reeks of cronyism. The fact that we are the only ones who want him and we’re hiring a coach with a losing record this year. Throw in the timing of the Vegas story and it simply isn’t the way a public university should be hiring anyone.

tj will be the coach to go .500 or slightly above for 10 season and the AD/Donors/Media will always love him.

its the perfect plan by tj. no one will ever be upset with him around here.
