UNLV fans are hilarious...Their program hasnt been relevant in college bball in 20 years.. Yet they think they are entitled to winning bc Stacey Augmon was awesome and Tark got the bagmen of Vegas to buy all the talent they could at a horrendous academic school..

They expect a coach to come in and just Win the conference year 1 and get to Sweet 16 in Year 2...

They forget that TJ took over a roster that was a wreck and he had to clean house and start over...Then in Year 2 they lose their stud pg for the year before season even starts.. TJ prob would have turned it around as Year 3 recruiting class for UNLV was lookiing reallyy good...

I hope we take Kaluma so bad from them. Pay backs are a ***** (Vaughn)..

still watching the video, and it almost seems like JP is begging people to buy in.

As mentioned, I am in, will support and am excited to see staff and recruit news, but on the surface it is underwhelming.
He’s definitely trying to sell it the best he can. Let’s see what happens.

Can't wait to come back to this thread in two years and say "I TOLD YOU SO!"
I think everyone would welcome that... God forbid anyone think this may not work out. It's like any coaching search would be. Some people will really like one coach and others won't believe that coach will get it done. People can have opinions on the matter and still be just as big a fan of the program as everyone who loves this hire. We all want him to succeed as Cyclone fans, but people may have been wishing/hoping for a different coach out there (not saying any of them would have taken the job).

When you specifically have to tell people their employer wanted them to stay, that’s says it all.

If and when someone hires MattCampbell from us, that won’t need to be said.

Welcome, TJ. I’m excited for the future and will be cheering you on.
Disagree. That message was specifically for a lot of people around here.

There are a bunch of people who just flat out seem to hate TJ around here.

I'm excited for the next chapter. I think TJ addresses a lot of the issues Prohm had. The one that everyone seems focused on is not being an X's and O's coach and I'm optimistic that he will address that with an assistant coach.

The reality is DeVries and the experienced coaches were just not a realistic option. I think it really came down to Smith and TJ. Between those I can see prefering Smith, but it was really a six of one half a dozen of another situation. We didn't settle for someone like we did last time (all of the candidate were settling including TJ due to the timing).

I am excited for TJ to bring us back to the Hoiberg style of basketball after Prohm took us away from that.

If this message board is any representation of how the general public feels about him coming back then I'm sure he and his wife are just thrilled over the reaction. Right away has a chip on his shoulder to prove people wrong ..... maybe that's a good thing. Like Matt did.

You guys that are crapping on this are so pathetic, holy s***. Can’t we be excited for someone who has been here when we’ve been successful and has had head coaching success at other programs?? We have no idea who Pollard did or didn’t reach out to, get your heads out of your asses.

I just hope half the board is as wrong about this as they were about Fred's years.

I usually like all of our hires and that means I've been wrong about a few bad ones so maybe I'm wrong to not be super pumped up today.

What facts and data? And you know what nepotism actually means, right?
Stats showing Daum didn't really improve under TJ. SDSU didn't get better. UNLV actually got worse. Craig Smith has a much better record. Oh, and nepotism: the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.

I'm so happy you guys actually paid us to take him. I never want to see any program sputter hard that isn't in our conference so I hope he works out for you.

Someone should do a rundown of the coaches CF wanted when we hired Fred and do a “where are they now”.

Nope. That's what we needed to do, but I expressly predicted this months ago. JP was always gonna hire his buddy.
Now the buddy has his shot. Up to him to do something with it.
And his second shot. Third, fourth...

But I don’t this is inherently a long rebuild, if it is we’ve hired the wrong guy. You hire TJ because he quickly pivots the roster. Morgan added his guys and reached tournament Year 2. Prohm largely rebuilt in two years to get 2018-19 to the tournament. I expect similar from TJ

Both are very familiar with ISU fans. I don't think they're too worried about how they will be received.
