As long as TJ is committed to learning from year to year and changing his strategys on offense/defense as a season goes on rather than sticking to something that is not working I believe this can work. He can recruit and that is probably the most important thing - if he was simply an X and Os coach it would be tougher to win because you would have to hire top notch recruiters and try to retain them but when the head coach can recruit then learning season in and out is possible as long as he is willing. Remember when we made fun of Drew for running out of time outs in the first few minutes of a half and he learned and got better. I remember a game where towards the end of the game with ISU he double teamed Niang to get the ball out of his hands and Fred wasn't ready for that and we lost - it was at that point I knew Drew would be a long term problem.

I'm a long time and happy financial contributor to this site, but CW has admitted he isn't impartial when it comes to TJ and even though nobody really comes here for hard hitting coverage I do worry about how CF can credibly cover ISU basketball with this hire as well.

This is ridiculous. The fact that CW is actually trying to be impartial and being completely transparent is miles better the 99% of analysts. Like say any former dukies or wolverines or Tosu people.

where is the proof that 'other options weren't explored'?
The Prohm decline has been in play for most of the season, piggybacking on last season.
There probably were no other options. It’s common knowledge this was going to be the move- Pollard wanted this hire the last time, and went traipsing all over the country just to be with his buddy and watch his teams. Most coaches are smart enough to know there’s nothing to be gained from being interviewed for a job you have no possibility of landing. It’s why the Rooney Rule is so idiotic and counter-productive. So when anybody, including Pollard says TJ was the best candidate available, well no ******* ****.

So, having listened to JP's video, it's apparent that TJ was the only choice. I find it interesting that when JP says, and I'm paraphrasing, that one candidate had more knowledge, was very prepared, and the most ready to take the job... Well no f'ing kidding, JP knew in January this move was coming, it doesn't take a detective to figure out that JP probably gave his buddy a head's up and topics to focus on..

There were no other formal interviews. JP said it himself, they treated everyone else differently than TJ after the inquiries to gauge interest from "candidates." Hey, JP, you're the AD, hire who the hell you want, but don't blow smoke up our behinds with the idea this was an open job search.
