If you understand college basketball, than you know that players commit to the coach more than the school. When a coach leaves a lot of players typically transfer. Look at how many players bounced from Wichita State after Marshall got canned. Are you trying to insinuate that players don’t want to play for T.J.? Countless former cyclones have expressed how good the hire is and he had the 16th best recruiting class in the nation this year at a mountain west school.
He needed his guys!

Hard to do when a lot of guys graduate and transfer. They also weren‘t good before TJ came.

They were better than 8-10 though.

You don’t need to point to the 80’s to be disappointed as a UNLV fan. Just 3 years ago and the fact it was better than this year, and given the possible transfers, likely better than Year 3. They were squarely looking at McD territory. The UNLV version.

You should be happy about that. It likely lowered the buyout. Assuming JP got help negotiating

how do you know he didn’t gauge interest from some bigger names and they all said no thanks to even interview. At this point he might of said if going to hire a risk I’m going with a known risk. I love that so many think they know all the details of how this went down.

The timeline would suggest he threw out a fly or a crappie jig as opposed to a trawler sized net. If he reached out to any coaches that are currently in the tournament (and he should have) they would've most likely said to wait until they were out of the tournament.

He would've avoided a lot of this criticism if he had waited until after Monday's games to make the announcement.

The optics on this look bad and I think that's what most people who are complaining are unhappy with...it appears this was all a foregone conclusion but Pollard is trying to lead us to believe it wasn't.

I would venture a guess they know more about UNLV basketball than we do!
Conversely they don't know **** about ISU. People may have not liked the hire or how it went down but TJ is a Cyclone now and hasn't even coached one game as a HC. In time we might find out it is was a mistake or it was home run but I'll form my own opinion from that. Until then I'll be damned if I allow some douche bag fan base tell me how to feel about.

haha.... right , that was crystal clear. (So, I'm guessing you thought about 80% of that message was spin.)
Yeah, it clearly was to me. Funny that say Campbell never leaked early. Or McDermott. The whole thing feels staged frankly, and I don’t care for that. If you want TJ just be straight up with it.

I haven’t been vocal for it against him, I’ll root for him to succeed. I just want to be in The tourney often enough.

I've already stated in multiple threads that I was so-so on TJ. 'Stated' that I wanted Fred, but felt it was a pipe dream and would never happen. And look...I can see why you and others think it was staged, too. I get that. But its all about moving forward and supporting whomever JP hired for me. Doesn't need to be any straighter up than that.

I know I've been pretty vocal about not loving the decision. But this is such an important point. I will keep watching every single game I can and root for him and the team every step of the way.
