I give Fran all the credit in the world for identifying, recruiting, and coaching Garza...but these Iowa fans who think next year is going to just keep on rolling without him are delusional.

I don't know if I've ever seen a team where one player is so much of the team's offense, maybe some mid major who happened to land or develop an elite player, definitely not a power conference team. Fizer's junior year he was just as dominant but he was never this absolutely central to the offense of the team.

Luka is hyper efficient today and the rest of the team is pretty woof so there's no choice but to just feed him.

I haven't watched much NCAA men's hoops this year but each time I channel flip into a game featuring Iowa it seems to be just as Garza fouls someone. Or so I think, and than he goes to the line to shoot free throws.

If it wasn’t for Garza Oregon would have already run away with this game.

He is legitimately hard to officiate. His size vs NCAA players is pretty comparable to what NBA refs had on their hands with Shaq. Sometimes Shaq really did play rough/dirty with the elbows and body, and other times just regular contact looks like the other guy is getting assaulted.

Literally grabbing the Oregon player's shoulder to turn and get that ball, which then goes off of Oregon there. Result is no foul and Iowa's basketball.

One of their fans on this board thinks they are an 8 seed next year if they lose JW and Garza. They aren't losing JW, but even with him would they be anywhere close in this game?

From the way I sense these team dynamics, they’d be lucky to be an 8-seed in the Big 10 tournament. Then again, the way the national media perpetually overrates Big 10 basketball.

If they somehow lost both JW and Garza there is no chance in hell they are anywhere near an 8-seed. If they even were on the bubble it would be quite the accomplisment.

I actually think Garza will do ok in the NBA and this game is an example why. I don't think he'll be an all star but I think he'll play for a very long time.

He doesn't have to lead the break, he's a good enough shooter (maybe elite if he keeps improving as he has) that he can hit the 3 in transition offense where he doesn't have to outrun everybody. In halfcourt offense he would be an asset to most teams right now.

His D will always keep him from being that marquee player but the guy will do fine in the NBA in terms of cashing a check and making a great living.

Oregon's starters have 54 points in the half.

Without even looking I'm gonna say that is the most of any game in the tournament.

Their bench has zero.

I live near Cedar Rapids and I'm pretty sure I heard this whole side of the state swear after that last foul.
