Is there an online link to this interview? I'd like to listen.
I have no idea but he didn't go into too much detail one things. Sounds excited and ready to go. Discussed focusing on building good habits and really recruiting the Midwest. I will admit, the more I listen to him, the more I hear a winner. He said one quote that has stuck with him is "Adapt or die" and he is 100% accurate with that! I think he gets it, it might take some time but he's a motivator for sure. You can hear it.

Minnesota
One of the more PC schools in the Midwest.

This guy may kill it at Minny, but surprised by an assistant hire.

PC? Prior to the hire they were the only Big 10 school without a minority head coach or AD. Although they have had black MBB coaches before.

The Minnesota hire is more like the Hoiberg hire except that Johnson (hometown guy and ex-Gopher) has 15 years experience at various schools and Hoiberg had zero.

I wasn’t able to listen, but heard from a buddy who is always skeptical, at best, or downright negative all the time (I hope he’s lurking. Negative ass :D). He came away from that interview feeling a lot better about things. Just that he heard talk about an identity, vision, passion, etc.

FWIW, just hearing him explain it the way he did makes it probably a must listen for real Iowa State fans. Try to put your coaching biases aside and just listen.

And Minny has had a black AD that got canned. But I don't care about the AD's race PC reference, but the university as a whole. When I lived there for 20 years I saw a lot of PC at the U of M.

I was excited when we hired him. I guess I'm the outcast in thst sense. I think checked all the boxes outside of full blown success at UNLV.

Plus the new guy at Minnesota was a pretty low profile hire (though he might turn out to be good) and they already lost their best players. Minnesota staying down would be great benefit to TJ and his new staff.

Yeah that won't happen. He has shut down the Minnesota border now. Players like tre hollman are gophers now.

The coach is a former gophers player, played at Minneapolis Delasalle high school, & is very beloved in Minnesota's high school aau scene, & by high school coaches

Gophers have had black coaches in clem haskins, & Tubby smith

They just haven't had black AD
