Across FB & MBB, Texas has to be the worst "blue blood" coaching position. They seem to be micro-managed worst than anyone else with completely unreasonable expectations.

I’d rather have beard go to Texas than have him in Tech.
Almost no matter the coach, Texas will usually at least be an average team most of the time that we have to compete with. I’d rather have Texas be really good and Tech drop back to oblivion than have Tech be really good and Texas be a decent to good team most of the time.

I think Texas goes hard for Beard. It is his Alma Mater and his buyout drops to 4 mil April 1. I also think there is a chance Beard says no.
There is talk about Tech players going to hit the transfer portal soon though. I highly doubt there is correlation, but would be interesting to see the fallout of Beard going to UT.

You totally know that Tech would hire someone like Gregg Marshall.
100% my feeling as well. Beard going to Texas helps us even if it means Texas will be a force to contend with in the Big 12.
The last thing I want is someone like a Musselman going to Texas.
I would almost rather have Beard go to UT and have TTU suck again then have him stay in Lubbock. No matter who comes in to UT they are always going to be able to get top talent to Austin. UT hasn't been good the last few years, but history shows a bad TTU program is more beatable for ISU than a bad UT program.
Beard and Texas Tech have already had better recruiting classes than Texas the last 2 seasons so it's not really a big step up.

Kind of how I feel about football. A mediocre Texas has been good for us, but it’s the Techs and KSUs of the world we need to consistently beat to maintain our position. Probably not wise count on Texas being down forever.

Agreed. No chance Texas Tech replaced Beard with a comparable coach so it would be a net gain for everyone else in the Big 12 if Beard moved over to UT. I just question whether he will or not.
