The rationale for the Otzelberger move in assistant jobs when Hoiberg still here on this board was experience under different head coaches but I don’t know that this was something he said or just CF speculation

I guess. But it's still a weird one for me if he's just biding his time for UNI to open up, especially with his kid still being there.

I've heard the "coach in waiting" thing several times now. If that's the case, what's the point in taking this job? I guess I don't get that rationale.
You could almost say the same thing about TJ. TJ had to branch out and eventually everything lined up for him to take the job.

So do we think AJs decision is made?

I still feel there is a chance based off who we bring in and who UNI may potentially lose with his dad leaving.

I get he may think he is the “missing” piece at UNI but that could change for both teams quickly.

I would think with your dad moving and the increase in competition and exposure in the big 12 you need to give a hard look.

Halliburton is a perfect example IMO - crappy team but got exposure in better league and was a lottery pick. Just my opinion but I think AJ would greatly improve his draft stock in the big 12

Yes.

He is not coming to Ames, no matter how desperately you want him to.

Look, I don't mean to get all snarky here, but I do not know what more you need to read to get it through your head that AJ is remaining at UNI. His tweet he sent out yesterday was as clear as clear can be.

If a player is good enough to play in the NBA they will be found. They do not need to play in a P6 conference in order to be drafted. Stephon Curry played at Davidson, for crying out loud.

Stop the silliness.

It may just as simple as Green may think it is time for him to get his own HC job and want to improve his resume/profile at at ISU. Could be at UNI or another Mid-Major school but getting his name on lists will be easier after a few years with the extra connections. if ISU has success. I believe Jacobson 50 and could coach another 15 years if he wants. Let's also not discount the relationship he has with TJ and a raise to influence the timing.

lol Ok!

I honestly don’t care if he comes or not but I think I made fair points and your response is just as ridiculous!

based off your response Bolton is 100% staying at ISU, Hoiberg is bought in to ISU, and no recruit will ever change their mind! Come on!

Exposure didn't have anything to do with Halliburton being a lottery pick.

I disagree but that’s fine

I don’t think he is a lottery pick if he wasn’t and I feel the same about AJ.

Steph Curry probably gets drafted higher in a better conference. I’m not saying talent won’t get discovered just easier in a conference with more exposure.

Again with the silliness...

Quite obviously you do care if he comes or not, since you keep on asking a question that AJ himself answered yesterday.

And you are entitled to your opinion about increased visibility, but it has no validity based on facts.

And we have 75 pages arguing over Bolton’s tweet so...

Testifying
Wisconsin would be the intriguing one. I think Gard is pretty safe for the time being, but they've been pretty marginal since he got there. I can see fans getting a bit inpatient, and Jake would be a perfect fit there.
Some fractions of that fan base have Tony Bennett wet dreams because of his old man (besides a Final Four didn't do much).

So is the plan to hack the GPS on Green's phone or car? THIS THREAD NEEDS ANSWERS!

Screw that technology crap, we are going old school. We just need 30 volunteers to drive Coach Green back &forth each day.

Coach Greens only requirements are his driver's need to bring a large Hazelnut coffee and 2 long johns for trip in & a 12 of BWW boneless wings (6 Mango Habanero/6 Blazin w Blue Cheese) and a bottle of Cody Road for the return to CF. Also bring your own pee bottle, Coach ain't sharing his.

Good news, Coach Green is open to any coaching input his driver's might have. After being at UNI for close to 15 years, he is looking for new ideas. His brain is pretty well tapped out, like a UFC fighter.

Apply in person in the basement of the Jacobson Building.
