I'm rather sure he does take it seriously or he wouldn't be a multiple world champion, NCAA champion and Olympic medalist. On the other hand, I'm not sure he would be competetive with all the Monday morning quarterbacks around here.
I never said he didn’t take it seriously, you should re-read. And you’re crazy if you think Cox takes it as serious as someone like Snyder or Taylor.

Maybe I’m too cynical but man, I just find it so hard to believe that an athlete at THAT level made a mistake that trivial in THAT kind of moment.
The athlete at that level relies on the coach (USA employee) to inform them where/when weighs-in are and generally will rely on coach to get them there. For KJ not to know is inexcusable and the blame should be 100% on his shoulders. Again, it’s not like he was late because he couldn’t make weight. USA coach told him when to be there and he was there by all accounts.

Also, isn’t one of USA wrestling responsibilities to put together the best team for the country. They really going to remove one of the country’s best wrestlers from the qualifying tournament for something as trivial as this. Never should have happened but punishing the wrestler when the coach, he trusted, should have been able to wrestle without all this drama. I doubt a single coach or wrestler would have complained if they knew the situation.

Wow amazing you have been around three guys of this level long enough to know how serious they take their wrestling careers.

I haven’t been around Downey either and I can pretty confidently say he doesn’t take it as serious as Taylor too.

Look, it is not hard to tell which guys eat, breathe, and sleep wrestling. J’Den is not one of those guys. It’s easy to see he has lots of other interests, and that is not a knock. Just the truth.

Seriously, how the heck would you know that?

Well, I wish I could win the things he has won by "not being one of those guys."

Incredibly stupid post.
Absolutely nothing to

i do too. Let me ask if you think everyone who accomplishes more than anyone else also takes it more serious than everyone else?

The obvious answer is no, they don’t. Some people can take things less seriously and still be better than people who take it more seriously. No one can argue this.

They needed to make a quick decision. It was pretty easy to understand/decide what happened. Now it is a mess on what you do now.

It’s pretty apparent what they are going to do now. Cox isn’t wrestling. Hopefully KJ is relieved of his duties.

Quite frankly I'm surprised at the number of quality posters who think J'Den should have been allowed to wrestle or feel he should get a special wrestle off. Making weight in wresting has been a steadfast rule since almost the beginning of the sport. Imagine if your kid makes weight for the high school state wrestling tourney. Then you find out the eventual champion didn't actually make the weight on time yet they let him wrestle anyway and he beats your kid along the way. It doesn't really matter if the kids coach (or someone else) told him the wrong time. He missed weight and the rules say he won't be allowed to wrestle. I'd predict that you'd be mad and everyone else with would be mad too. I can think of a couple legendary stories where wrestlers forfeited their chance at an NCAA titles because they didn't make weight. I say - Good for USA Wrestling for making the right decision and following the rules AND I feel bad for J'Den that this happened.
