Eli King is a 6'3" combo guard rated as the #73 player nationally in 2022 per 247 composite. King is an elite athlete who also held football offers from Notre Dame, Stanford, Iowa State, and much of the Big Ten. TJ recruited and coached Eli's brother, Owen, at South Dakota State so a prior connection with the family exists. Also notable, he's an AAU teammate (D1 Minnesota) of fellow 2022 commit Tamin Lipsey. Eli is currently recovering from a torn meniscus he suffered early in his high school season this past winter. As a sophomore (basketball), he averaged 16.2 points (63% FG), 6.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 3.3 steals, and 1.8 blocks for a 28-win team. In football, he plays wide receiver and returns kicks. He caught 50 passes for 958 yards and scored 27 touchdowns — 21 receiving and six on returns as a sophomore lol. Eli's high school, Caledonia, is a power house - they win the Minnesota AA state football title every year and lost in the championship in basketball this past season.

Offers: Iowa, UNI, Marquette, Minnesota, Stanford

I've been flipping back and forth from here to Twitter like a fiend waiting to hear this. Awesome!

I wish I could bottle up the basketball adrenalin rush from the last two weeks and save it for later.

Have to wonder if Hunter will be a one-and-done. Backcourt will be pretty crowded if not.
Probably not. I'd say it's more likely he's here 4 years than one and done. It's not like he was a top 10-15 guy. Nothing is impossible though.

Love this quote from his coach!

"On the defensive end he is super intense," said Fuhrmann. "He's physical, some of the best instincts on the ball and off the ball that I have ever coached. Offensively, he plays at a speed that a lot of others guards can't play at while still maintaining control. He can go from 25-to-100 in a split second and jumps out of the gym, absolutely jumps out of the gym."

"He's just a downhill guy, he uses his football abilities on the basketball court as well," Fuhrmann added. "He makes contact, he doesn't avoid contact, super slippery, great vision and just plays with a motor. I can't remember one time where he has ever taken a possession off. You would have no idea if we were up by 40 or down by 40 in any game and that to me is a huge compliment to a kid, he just plays hard. He has great passing ability, he's a great teammate and is a great young man. He is just a winner."
