Remember when people on this board were legitimately worried about the Michigan St job? Good times.

Depends on what a person's tastes are, I suppose. I've run into Coach and his family eating at Old Chicago, here in Ames. So, you know he has expensive tastes. No cheap ass Dominos for the Campbells. No sir.

Did this include pints of Bug Light because I can see CMC ordering that just cuz he can.

The point also is that if Matt wanted Alaskan cod flown in fresh every day to have with his eggs in the morning, there would be thread started two seconds later and a lot of us figuring out how to study together to get our pilots licenses.

@wxman1 your being paged. :)

What about how Matt operates or what Matt says makes you feel like he wants an NFL job? I’m not trying to poke a fight here, maybe he does. I do not see it. At all.
Nick Saban flopped in the NFL (and so have many college guys before and after him). That alone should make the college coach think if his style of motivating will work at the next level.

A couple of us already have that covered and are ready to serve when called upon.

I heard that he turned down more than this from Texas from a really good source a few months back. I didn’t believe it because it seemed crazy, but this makes me think it may have been legit.
There were rumors on the Tennessee 247 site they were offering him 8 million a year

You have to take pretty much anything with a grain of salt but has he ever actually said he's here for the long haul?

I know there's been a 'you don't have to worry' type of talk but never anything definite.

Who knows what will happen. After the news tonight I was reminded that Pat Sajak has been doing Wheel of Fortun for almost 40 years.

Some people just like their gig.
There you go. He tried the talk show gig (NFL), didn't like it. And the ratings were probably bad, like getting fired from the NFL. :)

Remember after the UL game last year when people on this board were complaining about CMC’s career record being mediocre, and finding reasons to say he’s not a good coach? Good times.

He hasn’t used the phrase “long haul”, but he’s said that he’s not interested in other jobs, and is tired of repeating it. In no uncertain terms.

Close enough?

At this point in time it is really starting to feel like it will take a top 5ish job in college or the NFL for him to leave. If Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers etc... come calling I will be worried. If one of those can't say no to jobs don't come open I think he loves building and sustaining a program at Iowa State.

This is where I’m at. He’s proven to be loyal to ISU and seems to want Cyclone Football to be his legacy. But, if he continues winning, at some point he’s going to get an offer he can’t refuse

Detroit gets **** on, and with good reason, but I think it's improved since Robocop. And I think the swanky suburbs are really nice

Having lived in the Detroit metro (Macomb County) for a decade now, here's the problem with people's assumptions of Detroit - they assume that "Detroit" is all there is here. And as nice as downtown Detroit actually is (and I have absolutely no problems taking my family down there with any kind of fear that we're risking out lives), no coach is living there - they're likely living in Oakland County, which is one of the wealthiest counties in America, and that's including Pontiac, which for all intents and purposes is Detroit Junior. And if anyone just had to have the "Ames Experience", Ann Arbor is less than an hour away.
