I think after the way ISU got mauled by ND in the bowl game Campbell knew he had to do something, and he did. The situation with the kicking game is the same thing. He knew it was a glaring weakness and he brought in multiple guys to get it fixed.

The linemen that we had for the ND Bowl were for the most part pre Campbell guys, the same guys that didn't get a push most of Montgomery's career. I think Campbell new the issue all along.

You can bring in a star running back any given year but you have to build an o line.

You mean just like our incoming recruiting class, when CMC is doing the exact same thing?

Rhoads was getting like 225 lb kids and trying to beef them up
These kids had 3-star rating on their recruiting profiles. Rhoads would have been after the kids with no stars and no offers from other schools to add to their mystique.
Current results speak volumes. The lines on both sides win games.

But they were still the best guys that were available at that time. I still contend that the bowl game was a clear message that the weight program needed to be upgraded, and it was.

This kid is at the top of my list of recruits I'm super excited about, I can't remember the last O Line recruit who's looked like this kid. 6'6" 305 and built like a brick **** house.

Absolutely. There are no short cuts on the OL. That OL that Montgomery ran behind was beyond awful. Yet, the staff still found a way to win games. There were young guys on the roster that were much more talented than who was starting...they were just a couple of years away. And now we FINALLY see what the plan was.
