I'm sure this will go over well with Aaron:

GB management clearly does not know how to get out of their own way. These dumb press conferences they have only serve to push Aaron farther away.

It was obvious that when Love was drafted, GB plan was to get rid of Rodgers in 2-3 years, max. Aaron moved it up a year. If GB is smart, trade him now for maximum value. If Aaron somehow tucks his tail between his legs and returns in Sept/Oct, GB runs a huge risk of him getting hurt. Then GB will have a QB that is now a year older, possibly coming off a season ending injury. The draft booty for GB by waiting a year will drop way down. GB management made this bed.... time to sleep in it.

It just gets stranger by the week. Now according former teammate Jones, Rodgers' issue is not with the GM but some phone call that he had which has to remain private.
Makes you wonder if Rodgers has ever told the Packers what he really wants.

According to what I read, that convo was basically Murphy telling Rodgers "Don't be the problem." Murphy is a dork.

I'll be curious to see what the reception is like at Lambeau.

I don't know if Rodgers even cares or not, but it sounds like the Packer fans have mostly turned against Aaron and his act. But like I said.... he probably doesn't care what they think.

Sounds like Deion Sanders isn't on Rodgers' bandwagon either.

I don't think it will be like Favre's. Favre went out and left Green Bay with a lot more tact in my opinion. I get why Aaron wants out but he should have just pushed his agent after the draft to make a trade happen.

Why drag it out until July 4th into a summer soap opera? Man he must hate that gm, and he has his reasons I'll admit.

Does anyone care what Deion Sanders thinks about anything? I sure don't.

I read that tweet as he's staying since he renewed for the year.

The GM isn't the problem, it's Murphy. After they hired LaFLeur, the media was all about "Well, Rodgers isn't gonna listen to that young whippersnapper, and he's gonna change all the plays at the line."

So Murphy, reading this as gospel, calls Rodgers and says, literally, "Don't be the problem."

What a dumb thing to say to your franchise QB.

I would laugh so hard if he did this.
Yep, don't see him doing this cause think he wants to play this season but if he does want to play hardball that could be a way to force a trade by July 2 if he tells Packers he will opt out otherwise.

According to this article he can opt out of the season and still keep his signing bonus and roster bonus
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/aaron-rodgers-does-indeed-opt-103404968.html

that's a good option only if he's done with football, otherwise it's a pretty terrible option. Nobody is trading for him if he's not allowed to play this season. Then he's still under contract for two more years and the dead cap hit if the Packers move him is still really high. All he would have done is kicked the can down the road and made it less likely that he gets the trade he wants.

His best case scenerio if he wants out is to sit out the first few weeks, have Love play well and then report back to the team. Then the Packers have incentive to move him, and by that point in the season another team whose plans at quarterback didn't go as planned (Miami for example) gets desparate and gives the Packers the huge asking price they want.

I'm a Dolphins fan so I have no dog in this fight, but from the outside looking in and from Rodgers reputation, I think it is well founded that a front office person would tell him to not be the problem.

You understand that Aaron Rodgers is kinda a **** right?

I do. And you understand that first-ballot HOF QBs are standing on every street corner, right? Point is, when the success of your business hinges on one main factor, you don't jeopardize that success by being tactless. Rodgers isn't about to change personality-wise, so its up to the decision-makers to handle things. I just think Murphy hasn't handled it well, at all.

If the Packers thought he still had the 2020 version of Aaron Rodgers in him, they never would have drafted Love in the first place. Keep that in mind. They weren't speaking that way to Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, they were speaking that way to mediocre quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

If Aaron Rodgers was competing for MVP's and then the Packers used a first round pick to draft his replacement, I can see him being pissed. But in 2019 Aaron Rodgers ranked 20th in QBR, 12th in Qb rating, and 16th in yard per completion. In 2018 he was 17th in QBR, 13th in QB rating, and 12th in yards per completion. For reference, in 2020 he was 1st in QBR, 1st in rating, and 8th in yards per completion.
