Can someone explain what happens if this new SEC leaves the NCAA and the rest of the country remains under the NCAA?

Does the SEC basically just have their own league and championship.... and the rest of the country plays as usual under the NCAA and there's bowls still and a National Championship, etc?

If so.... f**k the SEC and let them leave. I think a majority of the country will still support the NCAA teams over the new SEC league.

But I have no idea if that's how it works or not?

If I had to rank the options, I would put them in this order.
1. A revamped AAC with adding UH, BYU and maybe 2-4 others.
2. Some combo of ASU/AZ/Utah/Co. left homeless from the B1G taking their most preferred 6 PAC properties.
3. ESPN paying the PAC to add CST content to expedite the OU/UT exit process. At least this gives the PAC plenty of content for different time windows. But that is part of the advantage of the B1G taking the 6 best PAC properties also for the BTN. Plus it gives them a final push for ND with USC/Stanford.
4. CFB consolidates to 2 power leagues one of being the B1G who goes after AAU type institutions and ISU slides in at 30-32. I wouldn't count on this one.

for those disagreeing with my original post, don't think this is what I want to happen at all. I am just typing what I think will happen. If anything all this will make me watch less college sports.

For those disagreeing what are you thinking is happening?

I guess its possible this is a negotiation ploy but it sounds less and less likely, probably even below #4 above.

First, they were invited.

Second, if I took a huge dump on long-time business associates, I'd man up and face the music.

Supposedly, they were invited. I've seen that report too, but who knows what's really true right now. Everyone is looking for a PR edge, and sports media is just one giant circlejerk of unnamed sources and retweeting each other as if they're all breaking original news.

But if it's actually true that they were invited, I would still say it's not appropriate for them to participate, and they should opt out. There's zero reason for them to be a part of this discussion, and "manning up" does no good when they've already nuked the conference.

Why would anyone want to keep paying the worthless middleman when the facade of its service has been broken?

If iowa state is even left in the Big 12 reject conference where OU and Texas are replaced with USF and UCF, I still will not care about college football anymore.
You could still root for ISU as your college team. You'd just have to pick your new semi-pro team. I'll take Tennessee. I like the checkered end zones.

Oh.... and f**k Paul Finebaum too. I tuned into his show this afternoon to see what he had to say... and of course he wants the SEC to add OU and Texas.... he could care less about the future of CFB.... he only cares about the SEC.

Of course he's only ever cared about the Alabama's of the world and just poked fun at inferior schools like ISU. He basically said today that the Big 12 has always been a joke and OU and Texas would be smart to leave.

I think he seriously believes that a SEC super conference made up of the top 20 football schools in the country would be awesome.... and screw the rest of the schools. I'm not certain that's something that will succeed when over half the country will rebel against this new conference and never watch it.

I won't HAVE to pick one of these teams to support.... I'll support none of them and will not watch any of them play.... and I will only hope for their new league to fail miserably.

Well unless Bob Bowlsby has sources in the Texas A&M athletic department, he's not going to be able to get the same scoop.

The only reason this was brought to light at all was because A&M is going to do everything in their power to make sure Texas doesn't join the SEC.
You think the only person that knew at someone in A&M, really?

This is why it’s happening. Too many people think this is a good idea. Unlike the European super soccer league that was brought up months ago, that was shot down by fans very quickly. Too many people think this is an awesome idea and are just saying f you to the rest of us.

Could the conference say that Oklahoma and Texas aren't eligible for any conference post season events?

But then the conference isn't getting any of the TV revenue from their appearance, so it's a bad call to do so.
