There is a lot of talk about “just let them go” or “kick them out”. I don’t get this.

I look at it like we are Jason Heyward. We have a high reward contract and don’t have to do Jack **** for the next 4 years except cash checks and make UT and OU as unwelcome and uncomfortable as possible. No way do we give up the opportunity to cash checks.

Meanwhile every other team out recruits us in every sport due to Big 12 uncertainty. We want this to resolve quickly.

**** that. If OU and Texas want to go, so be it. No more kowtowing
That might feel good to do, but unless we've got a viable alternative on the table, ISU is not in a position to play hardball.

There's not likely a scenario where Texas/OU come out of this as losers. Even if they are forced to stay in the Big 12, they're still the big fish in the league. And even if they go to the SEC and become mediocre, they're still making the same, and likely more money than they are now.

So you're fine with us being crappy again.... and going back to the day where Jack Trice Stadium (Cyclone Stadium back then) was not even half full?
Not even that, even if we are decent, go undefeated in the crappy Big 12 leftover conference, what would the post season entail? A bowl berth to the famous Idaho potato bowl against BYU? That would be a special season going forward.

Yeah, I don't even want to go down this road, but what about recruiting? This awesome class CMC is putting together could all be gone pretty quickly. They are only verbal commits. That is so depressing to think about losing these guys.

You're probably right.... they ain't too bright down there.
If I'm a Texas or OU fan there is no way I want to stay in the Big 12 with NIL. I want to form a superconference to hog all the money and buy the best players, have top 10 games every week, etc.. Like you'd care about what ISU or K-State thought if you were in their shoes.

Yep, you don’t go give them any “for cause” to dig at the contract that is in place and have an exit without paying. I expected nothing else publicly out of that meeting.

Its all fun and games until those powerhouse football teams find themselves losing half their games. Losses have to come somewhere in that super league. Sure the coaches and players are making $$$, but the fans get $0 from that shiny new media contract and NIL. How long do fans of those teams tolerate going .500 or rarely winning a conf title?

I'm not concerned about Texas or OU. They're going to do what's in their best interest. Frankly, I'm tired off ISU being the abused spouse. Lets end it already.

I am as passionate about ISU athletics as the next person but at the end of the day we're talking about football. The university can survive and thrive as a G5. We just won't be on the national stage when its comes to football.

So..... yep..... nothing came out of it.
What did you expect? They haven't been formerly served with notice yet. They're acknowledging something we all know, but coming out guns blazing is not a good look. You bring up the Grant of Rights and the rules. Don't give anyone any fodder that might be useful in a lawsuit.
