1. Get Texas A&M, Colorado, Nebraska, and Missouri back in the conference.
2. Snatch Arizona and Arizona State.
3. Give OU and TX the double Ejim on the way out.
4. Profit

Is Arizona and ASU really better gets than Houston, Central Florida, or South Florida these days?

I’m going to ride or die with the Cyclones. But why, oh why, would I ever root for any of those *******?
I’ll always be an Iowa State fan of anything they do. That college and campus was my life for 4 wonderful years. I will bleed Iowa State until I die. All this **** does is make me want to cancel DirecTV, Disney+ and every other thing I subscribe to that supports a league (?) my school doesn’t participate in.

I won’t follow college football after this because I have no rooting interest if Iowa State is not involved. How the **** do you just pick a new team? That seems so ****** up on so many levels. I’m not some trailer park living, Walmart shopping, steel reserve drinking, TV dinner eating Hawkeye fan.

Hawkeye fans picked being Hawkeye fans. I’m an Iowa state fan because I owe my career, my wife, and my friends to that university. I’ll live eat breathe and die cyclone forever. College football or not.

There are no automatic bids in the current CFP expansion plans. Just the 6 highest ranked champions. Also the Big 10 is starting to throw a wet blanket on expansion for right now.
Of course they are. They aren’t adding to giant fish. They are trying to subdue it with their pants down while they make a plan of their own. They will ultimately be a part of the action in some capacity.

We would still be classified as a P5 conference. This would mean an automatic birth in the expanded 12 team playoff. However, an at-large berth for a 2nd place team would be highly unlikely.

I’m not sure the concept of Power 5 is going to be there if the playoff really takes the top six conference champions. That’s the silver lining for schools that get left behind. We’ll all know which conferences get the most bids and TV dollars, but the road to the playoff will still be there, and it’ll potentially be an easier road at that.

Yeah. If there indeed is the top 6 champions, that's a far easier road for an AAC team than UT in the SEC West.

You can survive without your left arm, but it would be a poor choice to not give yourself every chance to save it because you just want to get it over with.

I'm not saying let's leave now. I'm saying no more concessions to Texas and OU fully understanding what the implications would be if they do choose to leave.

Do you believe there's a long term future with OU and Texas if the rest of the conference gives more concessions? Hell, is there a long term future period?

Why you release what the ADs did but make back up plans. You are buying time by saying you are wanting to talk to them. Can’t be much for plans now if this was a major blindside.

Way up there
You know, how awesome would it be for a few years to let OU and UT go, add 4 trash teams at like a 25% share, and just make Fox and ESPN pay out the huge remaining contract. God it’d be delicious

The big 12 agreed a new member would get equal share I think...but either way, 4 years of that could be a decent supplement to get us by financially for a few years. By then who knows what the landscape of CFB will look like, it could be more realistic that the other leagues follow the SEC and get to 16. The big 12 might well be done but it could be almost like free agency for the teams that are left. It's a temporary way to keep from falling off the cliff.

The other side is that the extra money could be something that gets OU/UT back in the fold.

Especially if it ment forcing ESPN to divert money from the SEC for any home or conference games OU and UT play while in the SEC.

I will root for whoever plays OU and Texas every weekend. I can make some fun out of that

Pac 12 is paying out 37 MM for this upcoming year it projects. That’s 5 MM below us. I think adding ISU/OSU would probably hold that. Adding 2 more to get an early slate of games should probably be able to hold that. Their deal expires in 24 so they will be negotiating soon. They probably would want to do something soon if they were going to.

I think we could survive on that reduction if still P5

Well that will never happen.
