Re: Turner Gill a NO GO

Too bad. No one else out there excites me much. All the other guys remind me of Chizik two years ago or worse. I want someone who is young and hungry like Gill. Any coach you bring to Ames is going to have to work extremely hard in the first two years to establish a recruiting pipeline. Patterson is already a multi-millionaire so why would he work hard. Farley might work hard, but he's got a very limited base from which to draw upon. Sad day if this is true.

Why would his attorney be the one that announces where he goes?

If he actually said "no", then not good for us. We could increase his salary more than 5x. Keep in mind that Chizik told JP TWICE that he had turned Auburn down. Until Jamie pulls that rabbit out of his hat, who knows what's going on....

I'm not asking for praise. Just to those who were going out and buying Gill t-shirts, I told them to keep their emotions in check!

Being excited about a potential coach candidate is no big deal. Why do people feel the need to tell people how to feel? I was excited about Gill as a coach but am already over it.

Re: MARTY TIRRELL - TURNER A NO GO

Gene Chizik was "not interested" very early in the process 2 years ago. This is the way Jamie Pollard plays ball. Buffalo shouldn't have to release any press releases if he isn't taking the job.

All media reports must be taken with a grain of salt. Although, I won't be crying if Gill doesn't take the job.

I still want Patterson.
I would also be very happy with Patterson! I just cant fathom the possibility. He turned down KSU already and he was alum. Hes got it pretty good down there. Hell probly stay put til a big time program offers him down the road. Hopefully if this is true about Gill Im wrong.

Let's be clear - the ONLY people pushing Farley are Hawkeye fans. They just can't keep their mouths shut. They either want us to crater with Farley or crater with McCarney. But rest assured they want us to crater.

Re: MARTY TIRRELL - TURNER A NO GO

The last time we were looking for a football coach--Marty said that Jay Norvell was going to be our next coach up until the minute Gene Chizik appeared...

There's a 50-50 chance that he's right, flip a coin.

Gill's agent will be on M+M later today. Great.

KXNO sports report reiterated Gill is not interested.

It's not over unless I see Gill himself standing at the podium telling the world that he not interested in ISU...but then again, Saban did something similar a while back.

Yep, the Hawk fans and Husker fans are also the ones who are saying that Gill won't come to ISU. They have a vested interest in this, and I'm thinking a Husker somewhere probably got into Gill's head if this report is true.

Marty's "facts" are usually so scattered. We'll see.

Re: MARTY TIRRELL - TURNER A NO GO

Sorry to burst your bubble Nobody, but no Hawk fans I know want Farley to be the next coach. I have not seen any posts on any message boards touting that either. I hope you guys end up with Patterson, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm sure Jaime has a list of names of folks no one has even mentioned yet. He's done pretty well with his hires for the most part, I'd trust him to make the right decision.
