Re: MARTY TIRRELL - TURNER A NO GO

Atleast we know Pollard went after him.

Exactly. All I wanted from Pollard was to give Gill a chance. If it didn't work out, then so be it. There are other fishes in that pond of coaches. I just thought Gill was the biggest.

Re: MARTY TIRRELL - TURNER A NO GO

No. You got ripped on for coming on here and saying, "I told you so," when all of us knew it wasn't likely we were going to get Gill.

You came across as "patting yourself on the back". If you have take, then make your point. Don't do a "I told you so...".

Yikes. people are edgy today. I'll rephrase

To those of you that thought I was crazy earlier, told you not to freak out. To the rest of you, I have nothing to say and let's hope JP lands a great hire!

Anyways, I'm hoping we get PATTERSON!

Did Gill actually make the statements at the presser? I'm not usually a person to look into this like this, but there is no mention of not accepting any interviews elsewhere. This is just recognition that Turner was offered an extension and a raise... Just saying...

“On the day I came here to be the head coach I told my team that one day we would be successful here at the University at Buffalo,” said Gill. “Now, more than ever, I have never been more proud to be the head coach of this program at this great academic institution. This program has proven it can win now and it is built to continue to win in the future. I am grateful to President John Simpson and Athletic Director Warde Manuel for their continued support and faith in me as a football coach and leader of young men.

“I additionally want to thank our coaching staff and support staff for all they have done that has allowed us to have success in our football program,” said Gill.

Sounds like he's leaving to me...

Its plausible that Gill didnt want to coach against Nebraska in the Big 12. Give him some time to sleep on it, once he realizes he lost out on the NU job once, and Bo Pelini continues to do well. He may end up in the Big 12 afterall.

I wanted Gill, but i didnt get my expectations up, All i ask for is that Pollard hires someone that is exciting and can get everyone ready for 2009.

Re: MARTY TIRRELL - TURNER A NO GO

How do we know we got out negotiated? How do we know that Pollard even made an offer?

Chill out people...seriously.

Bunch of cry-whiners, this group...
Ya Im feeling a lot of extremely negative vibes in here right now. Im not gonna lie I wanted Gill pretty bad! He was my #1 choice. Hes staying at Buffalo... Is it the end of the world? No, I still see light coming from a window and Im still breathing... I think. I think Pollard will find the right guy for the job. Gill staying at Buffalo just shows us that he is who we thought he was... OMG I sound like Dennis Green! Ok Im going to work now

If Pollard threw all the stops out with him, and he turned us down, I'll be pissed, and it will just show how pathetic we are in others eyes. If he was never seriously offered, than I'll trust JP, and it won't bother me too much.

If Gill and Pollard met in Indy - he sure got back to Buffalo fast in order to make that presser.

Is it not possible that...

- Pollard met Gill last night.
- Pollard actually never met with Gill.

Check THIS out.

Source: ISU has not contacted Turner Gill, who is likely to remain at Buffalo | DesMoinesRegister.com | The Des Moines Register

So, first...calm the **** down.

Second, take the "reports" that claim Gill turned us down and shove them. This happens all the time. Coach is supposedly a candidate. Coach ends up not getting the job or not being a candidate. Coach "turned down" the job. Whatever.

And last - simmer down again and let Pollard handle this.

Maybe we can read between the lines?

<<This program has proven it can win now and it is built to continue to win in the future.>>

(since I won't be here)

Also note that there is nothing in the presser to indicate that he's actually signed. Could just be an agreement in principle.

Yes, grasping at straws at this point......

Why Gill turning us down is bad...

It's not bad because Turner Gill was the only good candidate out there, although he was one of top 3. It is bad because we got turned down for Buffalo. It's like we're the bar skank, that put on some make up to look decent, and got turned for a fat ***** with one arm, because everyone in the bar heard this rumor about how we have crabs. Even though we aren't that ugly, we have a such a bad rep that no one is going to touch us unless they're black out drunk.
