Iowa State wouldn’t sell any subscriptions because the overwhelming majority of Iowa State fans already get Big Ten Network. There is minimal economic incentive for the Big Ten to add Iowa State.

In a million years I'd never pay for cable tv again.

I'd gladly pay $10 a month for a streaming subscription with lots of iSU sports regardless of where I live.

That's the future, not wrapping football up with the home shopping channel.

Thanks. If 8 Big 12 teams find new P5 homes, I am confident ISU will be one of them.

We could end up in a scenario where it’s in the best interest of the leftovers to make sure the others have a safe harbor so we can avoid exit fees and (fewer) legal fights.

Guessing it‘ll be an 8-2 vote with TCU and Baylor voting against.

The Federal government has a 35 year backlog of media and business monopolization that needs to be dealt with, which is going to make it difficult for them to jump into college football. It may happen, but it won't happen fast.
OK, understood. So we have a couple of years for this to all occur. But teams and conferences are/will be positioning now. What happens if college football does something really stupid, threatening its' own existence? I would hope the Feds step in.

texas and oklahoma legislatures likely to step in im thinking, u have 4 of the 5 major universities in texas against this, need to stop paying equal sorry, with the plan isu would net out 3rd in pay and the SEC will panic and follow suit within 5 years, ISU has leverage, because we invented the first computer and can solve this problem for Texas and they dont need to be doing any thing, like forever playing championships in Atlanta, and playing Alabama on Big Monday (joke that would never happen)

Are the Iowas, Nebraskas, and Minnesotas of the world lobbying for us to join the BIG or standing in our way?

@Gunnerclone - where's the option to go independent? Our national brand is too valuable nowadays. Time to dump the TX, OU, and B12 dead weight, negotiate our own TV contract with The Ocho, and take our show on the road like the Harlem Globetrotters of college football.
I agree that Go Independent should be added to the poll. Seriously, though ..., because geography could become a barrier to entry for a school inside the B1G footprint, if the B1G does not see fit to extend an offer. In that case, being independent might be comparable financially to surrendering media rights to a lesser conference.
And, keep in mind, this conference shake up will not be the last. Being independent for a time, in the event the Big 12 disbands, could preserve some "Big 5" cred until the next round of musical chairs. It would be a viable alternative to branding ourselves as being among the Group of 5, or 6 as the case may be.

big 10 is bad for us imo, we can sell non big 10 to recruits all over, they are panicking to get us in the conference to take away recruiting edge take cmc, and iowa can schedule a different ooc, pay on ratings texas and ou stay is the way out, someone email JP

From the internet so far, seems Iowa is in the way. Haven't heard much from Minnesota, and Nebraska is split. Surprisingly I see a lot of Wisconsin folks saying it was be cool to add isu.

Perspective from Columbus OH:

"In my opinion, Iowa State is a perfect fit for the Big Ten. They sit squarely in the middle of the conference’s West division and they already have a standing rivalry with Iowa. They could easily develop one with Minnesota, Wisconsin, and rekindle pleasantries with former Big XII member Nebraska.

The Cyclones also have a head coach similar to Ryan Day. Matt Campbell is a young, up-and-coming coach who has built a quality program in a place I thought I’d never see. With a twelve-team playoff coming, Iowa State would give the Big Ten a legitimate yearly contender."

Other perspective out of Columbus: I thought Iowa State was already in our conference?

Sorry but if best case scenario happens, I want ISU to try to get into the Big 10. Texas and OU will be back in this position again when they want more, which is inevitable. I'm tired of their greed. **** or get off the pot. It's unfortunate that it is ******* over 8 other schools.
Yeah, my initial take on this was before it was obvious this wasn't just some kind of television negotiation ploy. We're well beyond that point now, obviously. Big Ten is the optimal at this point - no question.

I would say MN for us, the other two against us. Iowa may be forced to be neutral at the admin level (we know the fan level lol). Nebraska has to be against against against.

Iowa is not in the way, only the tavern hoks want to say they are, the UofI officials have already said they would not stand in the way.
This is about more than petty crap tavern hoks think about.
We have too many common interests, goals and management for them to officially fight our entrance, my guess is it will be the opposite and they will actually advocate for us.

Market size is absolutely a factor because of recruiting. You are adding way more potential talent to your recruiting footprint by expanding to larger markets. How do you keep up when the SEC controls 80% of the high school talent in America. You answer that by adding teams in places like Idaho and Iowa?
Do you think OK and TX in the B12 impacts how we recruit the midwest? We're doing fine finding players in other people's backyards and it's quite evident our coaching staff can coach them way up.
