SOMEBODY has to win the west..... doesn't always mean they are good. When was the last time a team from the west won the title game?
Wisconsin last won when it was leaders and legends but no team has won in the past 7 years since it has been east west. In the past 10 years with divisions Wisconsin won 2, Penn State won 1, Sparty has 2, and then OSU has 5 wins. Only Wisconsin, Iowa, and Northwestern have represented the west and only Penn State, Sparty, and OSU have represented the east.

Sorry, that's not actually recognized. That's like calling Northwestern BIG champions last year.

Doesn't matter if you watch or not, if you have Mediacom or many other cable outlets in the state, you are already paying for BTN. That was the genius of the system. they get to collect from every home in the state that has it on cable or satellite TV. The network gets to charge you more if the conference has a team in the state, less if you are in say Missouri without a team.

That is why they keep saying "ISU will not bring in new money into the conference." but its also an outdated way of thinking going forward because of cord cutting, and the further down the road we go, the less the Big 10 will be able to do this.
I can't imagine to many people preboomer age have Mediacom television service. A lot of the younger people don't even have what we used to call television anymore. Quite frankly if I wasn't a sports fan I wouldn't be paying for Sling during non football season and Hulutv or YouTube tv in the fall.

HuluTv, and Youtube are running under the same model as the cable companies. I get big ten network with youtube tv because I live in the metro detroit area. If I lived in Seattle I wouldn't have it and I am not 100% sure I could just get it as an add on. So even though I cut the cord I still get BTN the same way I would if I had comcast and BTN is still getting their money from both cable and streamers.

Thanks for posting that tweet. I agree that ISU's AAU status is huge when it comes to its realignment fate. It's the university presidents who make the final decisions, not the AD's and not the networks, and ISU's AAU status is critical to the presidents of the Big 10 and Pac 12 institutions.

I think in the long run YouTubeTV and Sling and the like are going to run into the same problem cable is running into. Unless you want to watch live sports, why subscribe? You can get just about anything non-sports that you want to watch on-demand.
