You're talking about the Rose Bowl. That is one bowl that has a true brand to it. Here are the ratings for the last 5 Rose Bowls that weren't part of the playoffs.

2019 - 8.7 - This is the Oregon game you are talking about
2018 - 8.9
2016 - 8.6
2015 - 7.4 - This is the Iowa v Stanford game that was over before it started.
2013 - 10.2

It doesn't look to me like Oregon makes a huge difference in the ratings. The Rose Bowl just doesn't want Iowa v Christian McCaffery.

That 2015 game was my favorite Rose Bowl ever. We were having Christmas that evening, no living room TV every time I went to the porch to check I kept coming back with a bigger smile.

Sorry, that's not actually recognized. That's like calling Northwestern BIG champions last year.
Tell that to KU fans running around the Big12 hoops tourny wearing T-shirts saying Big12 champs 13 straight years.

I have no problem with that. Whether it's football or hoops winning regular season title is tougher than CCG or Tournament.

I think the Rutgers play made sure that the BTN was added to many standard cable packages in the NYC market, so that increased the revenue regardless of whether anyone actually specifically watched Rutgers.
The other driver at the time was in market v out of market carriage fees on cable.

These #'s aren't correct, but directionally accurate. In market the Big10 Network changed cable companies around $5/month. I believe the NYC Big10 Network carriage fees were in market.

Whereas, if the Big10 Network is on a Denver cable system, the carriage fee is around $.80.

That's why Rutgers was important to the Big 10 in 2012. And it's why IA State doesn't move the needle from a Big10 Network carriage revenue steam. While KU would.

I haven't seen if streaming carriage fees have same tiered structure.

Reading all of the other big 10 message boards it’s funny to see them saying they want no part of Kansas, quite the reality check for an that fanbase

I know ok state isn’t a aau school, but could you imagine isu n osu added to big 12. Would improve competition across the board.

They are the least desirable AAU school out there. Might get added because they will take a massive cut in media rights money but that's really the only reason they would be.

ISU will not be in the Big 10. Kansas likely will. We need to accept that a reconstructed Big 12 is our fate. The only report out there was from Kirk Bohls that said ISU and KU were politely shot down. This is where we are at: relegated. This is the hand we were dealt. I see us losing Campbell this year and Pollard shortly after. The transformation to G5 will then be complete. I am a realist and see the pickle the leftover 8 are.

Edit: here is a link to Dennis Dodd’s CBS today on this exact topic

How will KU be a likely addition to the Big 10 after they were politely shot down?

I am not a hawk troll. Born and raised in Ames. 3 degrees from Iowa State. I build statistical models for a living. Any which way, I don’t see how any of the leftover 8 bring enough to the table to any major conference. Any other conference would be in this position if their flagship schools left. The only thing ISU has to offer other power conferences are inventory and academics. Every model I can think of has us falling short of actually adding anything. I am not sure Campbell will want to stay here nor Jamie Pollard after our athletic budget is gutted by 20 million per year. Every writer/media member is hearing the same thing from industry sources. I just wish more of my fellow Cyclones fans would see the writing on the wall here.

Just because you think you are smarter than everyone else doesn’t mean you actually know anything.

We're staying in the Big 12. We are going to be part of the Pac-12 TV package because the PAC can make as much money off of using us for that as they can making us full members.

Sorry for the confusion. Report from Bohls said ISU/KU approached B1G and were shot down initially after OU/UT announcement. Then, this KU rumor popped up after that fact.

I should be clear, I think KU probably does bot end up in the B1G, but there were reports.

ISU is not linked to anything.

ISU isn’t linked to anything because JP is always very secretive about major moves. The B1G is the same way, which is why Mizzou was turned away because the leaked they were talking to the B1G the last go around.
