Why buy them in the first place?

For me I'm going to the game. If I can sell our 4 tickets for $450/Ticket and buy comparable tickets for $250/Ticket later I'm going to do it. Making $800-$1000 for maybe 30min-1hr of my time is a no brainer.

Sports for me isn't life or death so if I can get 5x face value or more for a ticket I don't care who is on the other end of the transaction.

It's not life or death for me either. Neither is an extra few hundred bucks, especially when it means giving even a smidgen of advantage to a heated rival and their excessively obnoxious fan base.

I don't want to make this political, but I'm terrified JTS might get capacity restricted for UNI and Iowa. Imagining 65,000+ ready to see the Panthers and Hawkeyes die is almost too sweet.

I have a feeling that the governor and legislator would step in if this were to happen. I think the universities know they need to toe the line and stay out of the state governments crosshairs on COVID.

I have the same concern.

I’ll try to toe the line - but given our governors history of responses to this, I’m having a hard time seeing any restrictions without at least some attempt to intervene. Whether you agree with that or not.

I wouldn’t be. We have a governor who isn’t going to overstep and we have an ad who did everything he could last year to have fans at games.

Sell my ticket to an iowa fan to make an extra $100?? Lol, I don't need the money that bad. My uncle asked if I could get extras in 2019 and I got 4. Well, they brought a couple with them that was all decked out in hok gear. He knew better than to ask me to do it this year.

100 bucks sure. But I just checked stubhub for my section - everything is listed at like 450+. If I have somebody lowballing me on CF wanting those tickets for say, 150 each, well they're going on stubhub.

I also view ticket selling as like a real estate transaction. I hate dealing with the buyer. Stubhub and places like that work well because they clear the payment and there isn't haggling or anything like that or trying to find out if the guy has Venmo or anything.

Why buy them in the first place?

Because a lot of us have stuff going on and can't make every game? My son's soccer schedule doesn't get finalized until way after you have to reup for tickets. If my son had an 11 year old soccer game the same day I'd be skipping the Iowa game for sure. I'm not just going to stop buying tickets when I don't know what will happen with stuff like that.

I hate this. Then they jam 5 ppl into 4 seats. And yes… I have seen ppl try this at Hilton. It’s garbage.
I agree with this. I only did this once at JTS and the kids were small enough to sit on a lap. And we made them sit on the lap the whole game. It isn't fair to the others in the row when they can't get their whole (small) seat because someone else is taking up more than their share.

I have had Iowa fans sit next to me a couple of times. It kind of sucks. I guess I wouldn't mind so much if they were not acting like A-holes. I remember in 2015 the guy next to me kept standing up, doing the first down motion and mocking "that's another Iowa State first down" only he would sub Iowa for Iowa State.

What if you can’t go to the game?

Also.. Why can’t ISU fans pay market price?

That’s why this site it terrible to sell tickets on. If you list tickets at market value or what tickets are listed at on other 3rd party sites… you get destroyed in the comments.

So. Have thicker skin. Who cares if some random person on the internet is upset.

Theae stories always make me laugh. I can’t say I’ve had a bad encounter with an Iowa fan inside JTS - the ticket price being high usually weeds out the trash. The whole tribe warfare thing just gets really old. I usually try to talk to opposing fans, even Iowa ones, and extending a little goodwill with them has always lead to good conversations and good fan encounters.

Amen. Every fan base has a-holes and its just totally random as to when you run into one. Frankly, in wearing purple in both Iowa City and Ames, I've had much worse interactions in Ames but I don't paint the entire fan base as a-holes. In fact, I kick a few dollars to the NCC every year because I enjoy Iowa State sports.

That applies to all fan bases except Creighton. F those rich, entitled bastards.

I went to the last Nebraska game at Jack Trice with an Iowa fan, because he wanted to watch Nebraska before they joined the B1G. Things got pretty heated between him and the Nebraska fans next to us, and the police escorted the two Nebraska fans out. Luckily there was a barrier(and me) between them, they were on the hillsides and we were in the stands.

Not exactly sure.
Doesn’t upset me. Just saying that ISU fans can be known as cheap and always looking for a deal.
If it didn’t upset you, you would have brushed it off instead of a back and forth peeing match. It got you lathered up.
