I think they'd at least like to know the full impact NIL will have on the sport
That won't get ironed out for a few years IMO. It's the wild west right now. The big players will do anything in their power that has limited legal recourse to take advantage. It will take out raged incumbents to force legislature. I think 3 years minimum to get anything substantial.

Can confirm, I have driven thru the Flint Hills, and I saw BOTH of the beautiful trees there. :)

Reality is that any midwestern town is a pretty good place to live, but a terrible place to go on vacation. And for 90% of the country their perception is wrapped around the vacation part.

Also, Stillwater, Lubbock, Manhattan, Ames... everyone is entitled to bag on the other towns while pretending theirs is so way much better. Its a perk of being in the league.

Wisdom right here ^^^.

The KKK vibe is much stronger in Kansas than Nebraska. Kansas and Oklahoma are a little too gothic and angry for my tastes.
My mother side of the family is from Manhattan. Her grandfather was prominent in the KKK. He was a wonderful person honestly. The way my grandmother explained it was considered more like a Kiwanis club to people back then rather than a hate group. The gaslighting is stronk.

Did he say how well Kirk was liked in the club?

If the Alliance is happening, I think it is setting up that the Big 12 remains until the GOR expires, or UT and OU pay their way out. Once that happens, the other leagues swoop in. The ACC finally lets WVU in, B1G brings in ISU and KU, and the PAC picks up TTU, OSU, KSU and UH. TCU and Baylor go to the AAC to join back up with SMU.

Everyone say it with me UT and OU ARE NOT GOING TO STAY IN THE BIG 12 UNTIL THE GOR EXPIRE.

What if the SEC decided to make a northern play and scoop up ISU and Kansas? This whole thing is going to play our like a game of Risk so why not? Then they would be squarely in the backyard of the other major power conference in B1G.

We dont fit the traditional model of the SEC but traditions have already been cast aside.

Kind of a pipe dream but I could see the SEC saying screw it, we are land grabbing.

I agree at least on the top 2 tiers. The only thing that I am hung up on is if the Pac-12 views this as a chance to get a stronger foothold in Texas. That strikes me as the best chance of ISU getting left out IF the Pac-12 elects to expand. I could see a world in which they want to go to 16, want at least two Texas schools, and the 3rd is OSU. Kansas football is horrible but they are closer in geography and have an elite basketball brand; they could get the 4th spot (or it could be a 3rd Texas school).

still think the most likely outcome is the Pac saying no expansion

The Pac isn't going to pluck TCU or Baylor over Iowa State.

Why aren't they?

the A8 holds all the power in this discussion. Why would any of the A8 vote to accept any buyout?

Tx and Ou can leave and pay $160mil to the A8 for exit...But then the BIg 12 still owns Tx and Ou media rights. Tx and Ou aren't leaving until they have those media rights and the A8 doesn't have to and should not give up the card....at all.

I think the prevailing assumption of every Big 10 shill that UNC and UVA would just rocket ship to the Big 10 the second they snap their fingers is weird.
There was always that talk that UNC was proud of being a southern school and they had no desire to join a Midwest league.

I expect that the PAC announcement will be something like:

We aren't going to expand at this time but we will continue to do our due diligence in finding better ways to improve our conference in the future (non-denial denial). In the meantime we are considering scheduling alliances to expand our media coverage nationwide.

From my Iowa history course at ISU, I remember the instructor going over the surprising popularity of the triple-K in IA. The way I understand it, it was about religion, not race around here.

K-State's last president is president at Washington State. A $2 billion federal lab is about to open in Manhattan. The school has played a lot of P12 football teams over the past couple of decades and beat them.

Ms. Lippy's car is blue.
