It’s not happening. We need to face the music. I keep reading posts about us having a top 10 football program. C’mon. Let’s be real. We are NOT a top ten program. If you believe that because we are ranked in top ten, then you must also believe that we have the worst P5 basketball program. We cannot have it both ways. It doesn’t work that way.

Programs are built over time on sustained results and tradition. As of right now, we have neither.

Iowa State has been ranked 66 weeks in the AP poll, which is 85 years of AP polling. That is less than one week, per year, in which they are considered one of the 20 or 25 best teams.

Four times (3 in the last year, including this preseason) they were in the top 10, with an all-time high of 7th this year.

In 82 of those 85 years, not a single week were they considered to be one of the ten best teams in the nation, and only one week in 2002, two in 2020, and the one week so far this year.

In 70 of those 85 years, there wasn't as single week in which they were ranked at anytime.

Their 66 poll appearances is good for 10th place in the current Big 12 conference, dead last by 43 weeks behind Kansas, who is 9th in the conference. Iowa State, historically, is the worst team as far as rankings in the Big 12 all-time, and it is not even close. They have been ranked 5.6% of the weeks, with an average ranking of 18th when they were ranked.

Sustained results are what builds a program. We are running, and may have already run, out of time.

Imagine what a complete and total loser you have to be in real life.

A lot of “they” and “their” being used when you reference ISU…

Personal attacks are not ok. I am a loyal son, forever true and I’ve not said anything untrue. I’m just despondent at our situation. And anyone looking at things objectively would be as well. We are owed answers from our administrative leaders.

.
This stuff is so bad it's actually funny.

Good job Dr Hicksville.

So much news from today!
My take aways....

even though this is just a rumor I am coming around to ISU being ok when the dust settles.

Even though the alliance has nothing in writing, it is good for us as my biggest concern was the B1G poaching 2 acc teams or pac12 teams. with that off the table (assumingly) then the B1G has 2 options really. Either take KU/ISU or not expand. I don't see them taking any other Big12 school and I dont' see them taking Cincy or houston/BYU.

The more I think about this the more it makes sense. The 3 power leagues (including ND) have the ability to create a 48 team alliance or whatever you want to call it. Makes a lot of sense why B1GACCPAC really didn't want them there for the "alliance meeting".
ISU and KU brings very good academics and I think people are intrigued on the geography part of this also. I know ISU has had a rough 2 years of basketball, but we are going to be back very soon and KU and ISU would really help strengthen the Big10 in bball. ISU brings a very good wrestling program historically also.
I think fans are growing tired of the nonsense conference affiliation.
I hear all the time from Iowa fans how its not a great time playing Rutgers or Maryland versus Wisconsin, Nebby, Minny, etc.

They could have the first B1G/PAC 12 games alliance non conference games set. Iowa State replaces Iowa with Okie State, KU plays KSU and Nebby plays which ever Texas school wins out.

speaking of which, I don't see how the pac 12 doesn't have a nightmare on their hands. There are tons of politicians and lawyers for TCU and Baylor, and someone is going to be left out and is a fact. There is 7 spots open for 8 teams. (assuming expansion happens). I could see that getting ugly.

I don't understand the buy in part of the big ten, but I am guessing Jamie and ISU would be willing to take a decent cut for the next few years to make this happen. I guess as long as we have enough money to do what we need to do and over time become full funded members.

Lastly, I feel like one of the reasons he ONLY mentioned K-State and OSU is because the P12 doesn't know if the B1G is going to expand or not. If they don't then maybe the PAC12 will try and grab ISU/KSU. I would much rather be in the Big10, but at this point I am not picky. its just a huge decision that affects a lot of people and businesses.
I think if we end up in the Big10, over time our revenue stream will be much better and our athletic dept and university will be much stable.

that being said...all this could be completely wrong and is great entertainment....lol

Don’t be overly pessimistic. Our leaders at ISU could have a secret agreement already in place to join the B1G for all we know. The thing is they have to stay quiet about it until the legal stuff with Texas and OU gets figured out. All the national media guys talking about how ISU has no value and how we’re screwed are probably clueless, pushing an agenda, or both. I’m not sure what objective things you are looking at, but I don’t think it’s nearly as bad of a situation as you think it is.

But what do you make of Warren’s comments earlier today? That didn’t sound good.

No since Iowa and Nebraska is a rivalry as well I doubt that gets moved.

Rivalry week would be us and KU
Nebraska wou
*ISU and KU to the B1G

*WVU and ND to the ACC

*Tech, TCU, OSU, KSU to the Pac-12

Each conference sets up four pods of 4 - play your pod every year plus 5 of the other 12 (figure out those details later), plus 1 team from each of the other two conferences, for a total of 10 games, plus two open school-controlled slots for buy games or whatever. And all Alliance leagues agree to not schedule the SEC.

Protecting rivalries, geography, and trying to maximize TV revenue:

B1G pods:
1. Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State
2. Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Purdue
3. Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa State
4. Nebraska, Kansas, Illinois, Northwestern

ACC pods:
1. Notre Dame, Florida State, Clemson, Miami
2. Georgia Tech, Louisville, Virginia, Virginia Tech
3. Boston College, Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia
4. UNC, NC State, Duke, Wake Forest

Pac-16 pods:
1. Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State
2. Cal, Stanford, UCLA, USC
3. Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Arizona State
4. Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU

Tweet this out, Wannstedt!

If this happens (it won't) it will mean the current 65 P5 schools turn into 64, with Baylor being the sole odd man out who ends up in the American. Even better.
Good idea but they won’t put the 3 best programs in the B1G in the same pod. Switch Penn St and Michigan St with Indiana and Purdue.
