Jared’s hot take: I’d like to see ISU get the ball first and go on a 6 minute drive and just give them death by a thousand cuts all day.

BETTER IDEA: If ISU wants to make the playoff, we need to win every game by as much as possible. We need style points, we need huge stats and hype. I’d like to see us score as quickly and as much as possible. If it comes down to two 1 loss teams battling for a final final playoff spot we need to be the more hyped team if we’re going up against UGA, OU, etc.

I get what you mean, but the for the first drive of the game? Yeah, slice and dice them like that and set the tone early. "We can make it quick, or we can make it painful, or we can do both."

the only thing people remember at the end of the year about games early in the season is bad loses.

Ratings are done throughout the year. It’s not good if we get jumped in the AP because we beat UNI 31-14 and a team behind us beats ABC NW St 81-3. Every week matters this season.

I don’t want to be the Iowa Hawkeyes, I want to be in the playoff. For reasons on and off the field it’s of the utmost importance this year.

That would be fun but not how ISU is built. We did win some conference games nicely (WVU and KSU) last year so it may happen on occasion.

Fact is, none of that will make up for winning games and if we go undefeated winning each game by 3, we are in playoffs. If we go 11-2, losing to OU once, beating them once and losing to someone else, I don't think margin of victory will matter. We will be in or out depending on other teams records we are competing with for a spot.

I.e. If ND and ISU are both 11-2, it isn't going to matter if we beat UNI and KU and UNLV by 6 or 36 each.

Just win. The only poll that matters doesn't start until November when this game will be a distant memory.

Campbell doesn't run up the score (plus he and Farley get along really well because they're pretty much the same guy) and UNI plays a style that isn't real conducive to running it up against them.

Iowa State could be incredibly impressive and win 28-10. It's just how these two match up.

Trying to control the media driven “hype” or narrative is quite a lost cause proposition. This of all years should be pretty clear.

Agree...i'd imagine it's super simple play calling (i.e. let Breece get his, simple short passes, etc). Hopefully the talent advantage paces it to get to a score like you shared by about the third so we can get reserves in....NOT like two years ago where literally a lucky fall on the ball by Brock sealed the win!

I think winning 31-0 or 31-7 would have the same effect as say 48-17, or 55-24. That said, I'm still in just win, baby mode when it comes to playing UNI. To an outsider, UNI is the same thing as Murray State or Prairie View A&M but everyone who has been a Cyclone fan or lived in the state or even just paid attention over the years knows better.

You don't always have to win by 50+ points to show an a** kicking. I think we run a game plan like we did against WVU / Oregon and just tell UNI "stop us". I don't think they can and that style will end up in a game like 38-7 er so if things are clean. The time of possession will be so lopsided that UNI will press, make mistakes, and the game will get out of control.
