The SEC is the only “power conference” given the above criteria.

The only time to get worried is when ISU has to sign a long term grant of rights. If we do that, then we'll know there really is no better option out there.

It will be very interesting to see if BYU, Cinci, UCF, and Houston are interested in joining the B12 for the short term or if a longer term GOR will be required.

The two-tier P5 vs G5 distinction should fall by the wayside. The gap between the SEC and Pac-12 will be much larger than between the Pac-12 and Big 12 - both financially and on the field.

It is apparent that the SEC is the big dog and the B1G is #2, but they are close enough financially to constitute a tier. The ACC, Pac-12, and Big 12 will be in a tier with wide gulfs on either side. Then the next grouping will likely be the Mountain West and American on roughly equal footing. C-USA, Sun Belt, and the MAC round it out.

Those AD’s aren’t stupid. Absolutely there will need to be a GOR if we expand.

Thank you for the productive question. I think you have to look at several factors: recruiting rankings, NFL draft picks, CFP appearances, national championships.

And then on top of those very quantifiable measures, there is unfortunately the eye test. If you don’t have big brands, you won’t be viewed as a power conference.

However my brother, before one bloviates on the productification of the quantifying measurements, one must must eliminate their ludicrous nature of how they ecstaticly look upon big brands.

Big East is a heck of a basketball conference.
How many people care?
I along with many season basketball ticket holders.
No one is saying this is the outcome they want. I'd prefer the 10 team league for a long, long time. It's a perfect setup for football and basketball, perfect. But when you have to look what's the next step without getting a PAC or B1G invite, there's some decent football and basketball that can still happen.

Of course not. There were 5 power conferences, currently there are 4.

If you disagree with that statement, please explain what part and why.
Because OU and TX are playing this year in the B12.
If OU goes 12-1, they're a playoff team.
It's pretty simple.

Not exactly sure.
This, ironically, is trolling. And it has been reported.

But my guess would be the mods here have two different sets of rules:

One for the people who tow the line, and stay in their place.

And another for those who have opinions they don’t like.
You ran to the teacher a lot in grade school didn't you?
