People can call my post dumb but a top tier coach can coach a team at the same level 12 games a year, not just in October. Today was embarrassing. And I love coach Campbell to death.

Campbell is a top 10 coach. It feels like you're describing a top 2 or 3 coach or Nick Saban.

He can’t wait to open up the playbook. Some of you guys need therapy. We didn’t show anything in this game. We will look completely different next week.

And since Iowa looked like world beaters vs. a bad Indiana team if ISU wins next week that ‘Super Bowl’ mantra will come back out.

Really ISU though had no reason to hold back today. It’s like the coaches are running a scrimmage and they’re gonna get burned one of these times.

Please can someone who says this explain what we have to show this year that we didn't last year? Can you tell me why it's better to not show a deep passing game and open things up all year off of it? This is the most "cope" thing I see every year and it makes no sense logically.

Yeah Lincoln Riley is such a bad coach because his team struggled week 1 today. Oregon’s coach is bottom of the Pac 12 because they only won by a touchdown. You sound stupid man, game 1 doesn’t tell you anything about a season as we’ve seen literally 4 seasons in a row. You shouldn’t be allowed to cheer during Brocktober when we’re rolling. And we will be just fine against Iowa. They won big today because Penix (poor kid for that last name) from Indiana gifted them 2 pick 6’s and was horrible. Petras threw for less then 50% completion and their RB had one big run then was mediocre. We make our biggest strides week 1-2.

When you’re the #7 team playing FCS you always have the playbook Open and say “**** you come and get it. We will send you a copy in the mail a week before the game and it still won’t matter.”

Because Matt Campbell runs the program. He will do what he wants because it’s who he is

The score was disappointing but right now that's the least of our concerns.

The number 1 thing I wanted to see today was control/domination of the line of scrimmage. We have everyone back on the offensive line and had a full offseason where Andrews could implement his plan. On defense we needed to show that the 3 man front can, at the very least, generate some push on occasion. I think it's safe to say both failed to meet those objectives. The offensive struggled to get a push while the defensive line was mostly driven back. The only player on either side who consistently showed me something was J.R. Singleton. If this game was indicative of his future then he may be a monster sooner rather than later.
I just don't understand why our staff coaches down to their opponents. We ran nary a passing play across the middle 60 percent of the field, with the majority of our passing plays nibbling at the sidelines. Chase and Easton Dean were almost NEVER targeted, something I am struggling to comprehend. Purdy also wasn't very aggressive, nor did he sed

It's a struggle to find the bright spots in this game. I guess the 4 I have are 1) Special teams wasn't a disaster (better coverage, touchbacks, no turnovers) 2) Hutch 3) Singleton 4) Pass protection was mostly solid. I thought the LBs also played great after Rose missed the tackle on the crossing route early in the game.

Going forward the defensive line has to get some penetration and if it doesn't, Heacock needs to be able to find something that prevents QBs from having 4+ seconds to throw. Our corners also need to be able to cover the deep ball a little better and we were fortunate UNI missed some opportunities. Probably the most irritating was Manning's play calling: we CANNOT be afraid to utilize the middle of the field. Too many throws are sideways or toward the sideline and rely on missed tackles or YACS. We need to be throwing the ball vertically to where a catch gets us AT LEAST 8 yards. It was simply brutal to watch.

You’re right, he should definitely take the Michigan job at the end of the year. Save you from having to watch his teams play going forward.
He is the best thing to happen to ISU and I never want him to leave but that doesn’t make him Michigan eligible. He would get annihilated for his September performances in Ann Arbor.
