Why not? Teams in front of Florida lost and the others didn’t look that great. Fun fact when you barely squeak by a FCS team like we did you get penalized right or wrong as it may be. Florida did what we should have done.

#3, #10 and #12 lost. Iowa dominated a ranked team, Florida did what they were supposed to do and beat a mid-level Sun Belt team. We’re going to jump teams 4 spots into the Top Ten for that now? I’m not convinced, but sure…it’s possible “SEC” prevails.

It’s not even cute or funny anymore. It’s just ******* dumb and annoying. He and Zuri just 69ing each other in the game day thread was really a sight to behold.
Got to say, after trying to read some of that thread (and not being able to finish it) I have decided the biggest benefit of attending the game in person is not having to (or even having the ability to) read our game thread.

I tried telling people this. They didn’t want to listen
Agreed. It's hilarious how hypocritical some people are. If another team was ranked #7 and opened the season with a performance like we did, our fanbase as a whole would be ranting and calling for that team to drop a few spots despite winning the game. It's always so fun to watch people not be objective. Win against Iowa this week and all will be right in the world as far as the ranking goes.

It's also just one guy's opinion. That is from Fox, it's not the actual ranking, just what they would vote it as. Yikes man. And yes massive overreactions happen a ton in the first week of college football when it comes to rankings.

This is all understood. This is also just my opinion. Curious to know what you saw in Florida’s win that jumps them up ~400 points in the poll.

I’m sorry you’re so down on our win this weekend. Yeah, I wanted to beat them by 100 too. Some pollsters are going to check to see if we got the “W” by our name and leave it at that. Some will likely dig in deeper and give us a big ding…some a little deeper than that and see we were down an All-American and give us a smaller ding. Everything will average out, we’ll be punished and drop a couple spots like OU.

Holy cow man where in the heck did I ever say I was down on our win? Literally go look at the game thread after the game was over. I was and am the complete opposite. Stated multiple times in there that the game went as expected because that's just what we do against UNI and in Game 1 of Campbell's tenure. The data is the data at this point and getting the win in Game 1 is all I care about. Team will look very different in the next couple of weeks as they settle in because that's what Campbell teams also do.

However, that doesn't mean we aren't going to/shouldn't be punished by voters if they want to knock us for scoring a measly 16 points and scraping by against a FCS team that went 3-4 in the spring. And yeah Florida controlled the entire game against FAU (who did go 5-3 in the regular season last year, so not a completely terrible team). The Gators were up 28-0 in the 4th Quarter before taking the foot off the gas.

And finally, nowhere did I EVER say the rankings Fox put out were going to be the actual rankings. I simply called out the stupidity when someone said how the Fox top-10 they had was something out of this world insane and they shouldn't ever be allowed to vote. There was nothing wrong with it at all and like you said, it's THEIR opinion. Chances are we drop a spot or two because we still got the win, and in the end it only matters if we keep winning anyway. Beat Iowa and off we go.

Interested in what your top-10 would be right now?

I never gave you mine, so you made a lot of assumptions about me and how down I am on this team because I am actually being honest and objective if trying to take it from an outsider's point of view on this first week. This is how I would have the top-15 based off a lot of what actually happened in Week 1 and what I see in each team for potential. I take a more CFP committee-based approach where I re-rank each week instead of the lazy way of "Hey you were ranked #10 and won, so therefore you can't drop because you won."

1. Alabama (Appears to be in a league of their own)
2. Georgia (Defense is nasty)
3. Clemson (Same as Georgia, biggest question is how the QB develops)
4. Oklahoma (They will be fine, but the defense has to get back to what they were at end of last year)
5. Ohio State (Hard to get a read on them. Sloppy first game, but they are explosive)
6. Texas A&M (Sluggish to start, but started clicking more as the game went on)
7. Notre Dame (Going into Tallahassee is not easy as FSU always has talent. Still hesitant because not sure how good FSU is in the same light.)
8. Cincinnati (Look like a repeat of what they were last year)
9. Iowa State (The talent is clearly there, and we have inside knowledge of how the UNI game typically goes. But you get penalized for such a lackluster performance offensively. Defense looks really tough though.)
10. Florida (Just a solid win. Nothing too flashy, but looked good)
11. Iowa (Very impressive final score. Still need to see what Indiana really is. This weekend will tell a lot)
12. USC (Dominant win over a team that went 7-0 in the regular season last year)
13. Penn State (Couldn't judge too much from this ugly game, but a win at Camp Randall is worth something)
14. Texas (When you are the trendy upset pick (Louisiana) and completely dismantle that team, you get rewarded. Bijan Robinson is a boss. Still not sold on their defense)
15. Coastal Carolina (Not much to say other than they are a talented team all around)

One caveat is Miami, as I have no idea how good or bad they are because Bama makes almost everyone look terrible.
