Iowa will be the best team ISU has faced since the Notre Dame, in the CWB.

Indiana as a program is way too much of a question mark for the premise of this thread.

If Iowa had just soundly beat Ohio State or even Wisconsin I'd give the OP's premise some serious consideration. They looked great. We don't know how good Indiana is.

I do think that ND team was a tougher matchup than the recent wins and close losses vs OU we've had.
As has been noted, Iowa State looked tired going into the Camping World Bowl. It had been a tough season (for example, Eisworth playing injured the whole year). I'm going to be nervous as heck going into this one but do know that CMC and his staff know how to overcome many things.

Duh. I expect them to.

I just think the people keep that think we’re better across the board, every stinking year, have major planks in their eyes.

A talented(and young) team is coming to town. I don’t think they’ll deal with the environment well, but still pretty stingy and a tough out

We're not better across the board. I think Hall is the better back but the run games and defenses are pretty comparable. ISU's passing game should seem better to an objective analyst, especially with Kolar.

Our skill players have more experience in big games and the game is at home. Their offense looked like they had been practicing well in game one and we looked like we had not for some reason. Then I look at the last four years and realize we always have an early game like that for some reason and sometimes even the next week it's completely different.

ISU really just wasn't that good in 2019 (although close at times) and Notre Dame outmatched them pretty much everywhere.

I think whether it's ND or OU you have to be ready with an A game for talent stacked teams with good coaching/culture. That's just as true for Iowa as it is for ISU. Iowa and Campbell era ISU can beat those teams, but not with the B or C game. The crazy thing as an ISU fan was last year's Baylor game where a C- type of game was still a W.

Only semi-related, Eisworth didn’t seem like his normal self Saturday. I won’t say he played bad, because I haven’t looked at his stats, but he was missing tackles, getting beat, etc. just did not seem like he played well. At all.

Usually seems like about the 3rd game for ISU to start having the lights come on a bit.

Iowa looked like they were ready to explode early the other day and ISU didn't.

Iowa drives me crazy.
They will not turn the ball over, play good special teams and have 1-2 broken plays on offense they capitalize on . KF has MC's number so it will be interesting.

Didn't realize Iowa hasn't turned the ball over against us since 2015....

Petras was 13 -27 in his first game in front of a crowd. A home crowd. He won't get the red carpet this week.

14 of Iowa points were on pick 6's. Penix was not great. I don't see a repeat of that.

We played vanilla, but CMC still expected to do better. I would love to be a mouse listening to what's going on at practice this week. Don't think these guys don't care.

I see us playing much better and expect to see better play.

That might be a stretch- better at each position? The biggest difference this year is experience. Super seniors on one side- probably a bunch of NFL guys, but young ones, on the other side. Iowa’s ‘speed/talent’ is too often overlooked by us. So, Iowa State is by far more experienced…more talent is subjective and probably not accurate.
Ok, position groups then. Iowa State is better at every position group except maybe the DL.

This is not to say Iowa is a bad team by any stretch, because I do think they are a decent team. That being said, this has to be one of the worst “hot takes” I’ve ever seen posted as a thread title. Good job OP!

Take away the two pick 6s and the long td run, Iowa only beats Indiana 13-6. Goodson has a 3 yard average without that td run too. We will be fine against them.

but they had the play makers to make it 34-6. The Iowa players made plays, they contributed to the score
