I am finding all of the "Purdy used to be good" takes to be very revisionist. He had a monster game against a OSU team that had no film on him and didn't gameplan for a dual-threat QB. I also remember him struggling a lot down the stretch that season and having a bad game against Texas and throwing some awful ints against WSU in the bowl.

We were all hoping that 2019 would be his big breakout season, but he spent that season and the next season as a QB who occasionally looks good, but too often gets happy feet and throws a lot of picks.

I think he is who he always has been.

And the truth is his WR's change. He relies a LOT on jump-ball getters, and it doesn't seem like ISU has anyone like that this year outside of Kolar, and even then, it's not the same.

I'm seeing a lot of Danny Mac out of CMC this year.

I mean, even if the drive ends in a TD it's almost certainly meaningless, but why just stop?
And for anyone offering, yes, I heard Kirk's explanation. He left out the question of why we would stop before we had to, or why we'd stop driving for a TD and then trying for the virtual miracle win.

We sure don't play to win. That stinks.

He isn't bad at all. But for some reason it seems he isn't having fun out there.

So you have a drive going when you need a touchdown. You could’ve tried for a FG after an onside kick. What am I missing?
Eh I don’t mind the play. You needed both regardless and if you had wasted more time to get the TD you don’t even get a chance at a Fg even if you recover the onside kick. You make that FG and somehow get the onside kick you at least have the ability to throw a Hail Mary with Dekkers.

But of course we rush the FG and botch it.

I’ve been opted out for years, but those effing dorks need to give it a rest until Iowa State wins this game. They prattle on 12 months a year and are basically wrong every time.
I agree. I inadvertently tuned in to ISR for the first time in years and found it interesting, unlike before, about the exact time of recent recruiting wins. I found a hack that allows me switch preferences instantly, and have been going back and forth some since. It’s going back to off.

I’ve seen some interesting conversation, but it is just not worth the time: Cost > benefit.

I don’t want to sound down on Purdy, but it has long seemed to me the 2nd team QB should be getting more snaps, Dekkers in this case. I know, close games and confidence and such. It has just always seemed unusual to me.

And maybe a spring game isn’t a bad idea. Why do seasons seem always to start off like this?
