And then get stomped like a red headed step child the rest of the year. No thanks. The important season starts with conference. I just hope the O gets it's head out of it's a**.
Why not both? People who say this game isn’t that important are right and wrong. Yes the Big 12 is way more important BUT every game is important. At this point chalking up and automatic L isn’t exactly good either. How about since we are good enough to play with and beat OU, we win a home game against Iowa?

I agree %100. He has October and November figured out. Don't know what the problem is early. But if you put a gun to my head and asked conference or Iowa.........it's conference 6 days a week and twice on Sunday.

Terrible special teams play and anemic offense spoiled a near-dominant defensive effort. Cyclone front seven owned the line of scrimmage today. It's just hard to understand what the offense is doing out there. It's like the program is regressing to the Rhodes years.

We are Iowa State. Damn, why can't we have nice things? Always so close, yet SO FAR AWAY for all my teams (ISU, AZ Cardinals (2008/2015), JAX Jaguars (1999/2017), Magic (1995/2009), Suns (1993/2021), Coyotes (2012). At least the Diamondbacks won in 2001). I should be numb to this by now, but when all my favorite teams are historically terrible, it's just too easy to get wrapped up into the excitement of any form of success (no matter how short term it ends up being).

Looking at Iowa's schedule, holy crap they might go 11-1, and they are ABSOLUTE trash offensively. Must be nice avoiding Ohio State every single year.

I really wish we played them every other year besides annually. It would mean more, but also we wouldn't be so emotionally invested as often (meaning we wouldn't be as upset as we are when we lose 6 years in a row).

Regroup, and win the whole damn thing the rest of the way. Go State!!

Oh and the "Glorified AAC" would absolutely roll most of the Big 10.

Disagree. This is a team that could stay in the top 10 all year, could win 10+ for the first time in school history, could stay in the playoff conversation, and either make the playoffs or go to a NY6 bowl again. Winning in September is important for all those things. Also, beating a top 10 rival on the featured TV game of the week would be huge for the program. There are a lot of important things to play for beyond a B12 title.

Yes; it's a 12-game season. Prepare for every game like it's a "Superbowl"
